The key is to get a high res scan or photo of the original. Stitch 2 or more if you have to. Make sure to check at 100% view for sharp focus and do not up the resolution ( or pixel size) in the editing program. Great painting but you have to get it scanned or photographed sharp and with enough pixels. A 30 inch print is not hard to make with a single shot from most cameras. You only need 3000 pixels on the long side. If you uprez it you ruin them all. 6300x5400 is way more than you need for a 30 inch print. I wonder how you got it to that size.

Well the original is gone so can't rescan it,do have a file of it I saved on Photoshop 12mb, should I reduce file size for upload? get it more to 3000 on the long side, what file sizes do most upload? 3,4,5, MB? I not good at this sorry.

Where do you see 6300x5400? I can't find that on my page?

Ok reduced it,think its the best for this one. 3600wide by 2700high.

don't use 300dpi for one, if you chose it, it will enlarge the image. looking at the image, i think it will print because it's a painting, but it's not that sharp overall. scanning it is your best bet. if there was an issue you would have gotten the mail by now.

Art Prints
this won't print because of that black line.

you'll want to increase your prices - both for original and prints, your under selling yourself.

Art Prints
and this one has your name cropped off a bit

Art Prints
this one is also not printable. it's enlarged and blurry.

now that you know it's selling, be sure to go over all your work and make sure it's scanned in. otherwise it will be bothersome later.

for that top on, i think you can use unsharp mask or a deconvolution sharpener, should tighten it up a bit. there might be some free ones out there.

Thanks for the info,FAA recommend 300dpi,you say don't use 300,so what do I use?? woke up this morning and someone else wants to buy one of my originals! wow what a week! on my larger works, cant put them on my scanner, just had to take pictures and go from there, also the crystal cove painting is acrylic on canvas paper and inherently has lines from the canvas paper,so hard to judge,w/c paper looks clearer when its zoomed. learning! my next work will be 30x22,no way to get that on the scanner, playing with photo merge on Photoshop for multiple scans, stitch it together.

they print at or under 100dpi for the largest prints. this means the image has to be very clean and nice up close. your aiming for pixels, 5000px makes a 50in print. if the lid of your scanner comes off you can stitch the images. otherwise you can photograph them in pieces zoomed up, but that will be tricky as well.

Ok,lots to think about, I'm new at selling,my friend who is also here has large 30x22 paintings,I asked him ,how do you upload such large works? you can't really scan something so large,he told me he hangs it on a fence in his yard in full sunlight and takes hi-res pic's,he sells a ton of prints and his originals all sell at $850,his only complaints are once someone buys an original it not as bright as the image on the net,he told me he kicks the color and contrast up on Photoshop, look him up John Dunn, great beach art! his house has works on every wall, has over 500 paintings, big ones, amazing!

Just got this email,I do not have original anymore sold 2 days ago, hmmm???
Hi John,

Congratulations on your recent order for El Moro Crystal Cove!

http://fineartamerica.com/featured/el-moro-crystal-cove-john-leclerc.html

Unfortunately, there is a problem with your image that will prevent us from making a high-quality print:

1. The image is very blurry when viewed at full resolution.
2. The image is not cropped correctly.

I have attached a file for you to review. This file show the corners and center of your image exactly as they will appear when printed.

You need to reshoot the image using a high-resolution camera (12 megapixels) and tripod in outdoor lighting. Please note - camera phones, iphones, ipads, and similar devices are not suitable for producing high-quality prints. You need use a true digital camera with zoom and focus controls.

Please correct the problem and upload a new image to FineArtAmerica.com as soon as possible. You'll need to replace your existing image (http://fineartamerica.com/featured/el-moro-crystal-cove-john-leclerc.html) with your new image.

We promise our buyers that all orders will ship within 48 hours, and we need to get this image corrected as soon as possible. Please let me know as soon as you've uploaded the new image. I have the order on hold until I hear back from you.

Thanks.

Rosemary

there goes that. you might be able to sharpen or get a deconvolution filter, i like focusmagic. sometimes you can ask them to apply a filter to oddly enough, make it more blurry, but often it prints ok then. of course you'll have more problems with the other images. if it can't be fixed, they will cancel it. that's why it pays to get the highest quality picture of scan of your work and play with that.

Wish I had a bigger scanner 8.5x11 don't cut it,I sent Rosemary a 12mb file of image, see what she says, think she used a small file size that was on the site yesterday.

i have the same size scanner, but the lid doesn't come off, but i was able to scan in a 18x24 with it. if the lid could come off, while tricky, i could do larger ones than that.

My lid comes off and have done stitching, works great with photo-merge feature in PS,think I lost the sale, learning experience!

Sorry for your loss, I bet that won't happen again. I cut the hinge on my brand new Epson V37 scanner, it was good move. I need better stitching software. I know merge layers in PS seems to be the way I'm leaning too.

Yea! cut the hinge!LOL, I just went thru my stuff and reduced them all to smaller print sizes until I have time to upload larger clearer stuff!
