No and not really interested as it is way too many similar sites already. One can spread ones self too thin with all these sites.

Yup, I hear you Jeffery.

I store and share on Flcikr and I sell on FAA.

But this reminds me of the internet browser wars of a year or two ago. ..... one thing for sure, photography is "in" right now.

Jeffery Johnson

Yeah not sure if that is a good thing or not, the photography being the "in" thing currently.

Haven't heard of them, Frank -- but their name sure caught my interest.

EyeEm . . . crazy for wordplay! That's earned a look when I have time. :-)

There are no "spots" available for artists to sell right now.
oh well.

Here, Wendy, this might save you the trouble: http://appscout.pcmag.com/none/307181-photo-sharing-app-smackdown-instagram-vs-eyeem

Marline, something tells me that news is really no loss.

Update: So all day I've been getting e mails from people wanting to follow me..which is rather absurd when you consider i have nothing posted to follow. They won't let me.
It appears to be a cross between pinterest and instagram.

Huh .... well, like I said, this reminds me of the internet browser wars of a year or two ago.

Thanks Marline for your update.

It seems from an article I read recently about Flickr, since they have been owned by Yahoo they dithered around and didn't get the (you'll have to forgive me I'm not super computer/iphone savvy) ways in which to do all the things that can be done with iphone to the Flickr site so the iphone crowd left, the SLR crowd stayed. This site looks like it probably does what they missed out on.

I started to wonder if I should continue to develop my work on Flickr then I realized I'm the SLR crowd and I'm pretty cool with that. There is less traffic there now, have you noticed? Yahoo is now listening to the small highly skilled staff at Flickr instead of some plan it got from a young entrepreneur and trying to rebuild (still not investing what it should but they have a philosophy, if it's not already making big money don't spend big money on it). Flickr was a potential gold mine but they let others walk in and take the gold.

That's what a lot of artists said about FAA, Deviant Art, Etsy and more when they first came out, but if you stuck with it from the beginning you didn't have to come from thousands of pages back to be seen later. It a gamble that can't hurt.

Suzanne - Yes, the person who developed EyeEm I've heard is a former employee of Flickr.

With that said, I use Flickr iOS for iPad and think it is far better than the Instagram app. Especially the post processor / editor.

They guy running Flickr now, I think his name is Bernardo, has tons of experience with mobile and success with it too. ... and, yes, he is listening.

So, yes, it makes sense the mobile people left Flickr, but I also believe in due time Flickr will dominate the category over Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.. Because Flickr combines all of these in their platform and is developed and formated for photography and photographers. Instagram is not.

In other words, if you want to promote yourself = post to Instagram. If you want to promote your photography, as I have done very well, = post to Flcikr.

The main issue we all have to accept is that everyone on Flcikr is considered a photographer and not just the Pro's.

I am not sure how people are supposed to buy on this eye em site. It would not allow me to look at anything at all without joining so how could I buy something?

Frank J Casella

Interesting catch to it, Ann ... I haven't tried it.

Haven't heard of EyeEm.

"...There is less traffic there now, have you noticed?..."

Suzanne, I've noticed that, but thought it was just at my photostream at Flickr. I know the view seems to have switched again with all the info in the right hand margin , which I don't care for. I had the view corrected to where all the info was below the photo, but it switched back somehow, unless that's the default view now.

Greg, it's hit or miss .... I have the info on the bottom and my son has the info on the side. I hear they are working on perfecting the mobile app and that will sync with the final version for web.

Thanks, Frank. I don't have any thing that requires mobile apps, and would sure like to see the format back to where it was (info below the image). If they keep tinkering with it I think people will lose interest (as in the activity reflects now possibly), because nothing ever seems to be stable, and is constantly changing. Sometimes change is good......unless it's in a constant fluid state.

Was checking out the link when I came across this. Wonder what they mean exactly by

The terms are fair, easy and transparent. You always remain the copyright holder of your images and we are splitting the revenue from each photo you sell 50/50.

So Getty takes it's 80 percent and what is left you get to split with Eyeem? Or am I missing something here?

Frank J Casella

You know, it's to the point when I hear the name "Getty" I just turn away and keep walking .... no trust in what they have become.

Marlene Burns

The problem with going public with beta versions is that your potential audience is confused and loses interest.
case in point....
