Sale For Firefighters

I made my first sale of American Fire Fighters yesterday and noticed i generally get the odd comment even if it's just one. So checked the recently sold items to see that it's nowhere in sight, anyone else have a few sales not show up. They usually do show up a few hours after but just concerned that if it's not seen it doesn't generate as much exposure and comments for further sales.

The recently sold page that comes up when you log in is what usually generates the comments. That shows 20 random images and yours will pop up there but will share the spot with all the other images that sold in the last 24 hours.

That said, comments and exposure from artists, will not do that much for further sales. What will though is your image will move up in the internal search now that it has sold.

Thanks JC, Yes i notice that every time you sign in it varies what sold images you see...hopefully it will pop up soon. I noticed sales have dipped again this year and i do advertise quite a lot so maybe another strategy is needed, lol.

Hi Andrew -

The "Recently Sold" is no longer the Recently Sold as we knew it. It's "Recently Sold - Featured Art" now. I made 2 sales on consecutive days this week and the only people who saw them are members when they log on. Somewhere along the way the RS was changed to no longer reflect sales unless they are "featured."

When it is a slow sales day for the site and I make a sale, I get lots of comments. If it is a big sales day sometimes I get a couple or sometimes none at all. (Christmas time sales generate almost no comments.)

Donna when did you note that happening?

@ Andee -

The other day when I went to see if my sale showed up. I searched the first 15 pages and it didn't. Then, someone pointed out that it is now "Recently Sold - FEATURED Art" I made the comment in another thread that when you pull down the menu - it's redundant. What I saw was mostly the same sellers and often, same images - "Featured/Best Sellers/Recently Sold. When you click onto Recently Sold it now says, "Recently Sold - Featured Art."

The relevant page is called "recent sales" not "recently sold" which is different. Recent sales is accessed when you log on. As mentioned it only shows 20 random images, but if you refresh the page (hit f/5) it will show another 20 random images. If the sale comes through at night when few are logged on you may get no comments. Also as JC mentioned if there are a lot of sales it won't be there for long. The fact that there are no comments is no indication that the image was not on the recent sales page. But as mentioned a sale on an image weighs a lot more in the search ranking than comments so the effect of having none is negligible. In fact I used to just delete most of the comments. It doesn't look very professional.

Congrats on your sale Andrew.

@ Bradford - How is "recent sales" relevant to potential buyers? Most don't have accounts? Re's "comments" I'm not sure why that is being discussed... I missed any questions on that. One has nothing to do with the other, though. The comments I have are not going to show up in the "Recently Sold" that buyers see... or am I mistaken?

Edit - Sorry Andrew... I neglected to congratulate you on your RECENT sale :)

Double Edit - @ Andrew - I am not at all concerned about buyers seeing comments. Many of my sales have not had more than a few... Comments don't sell art, art sells art. Re's my AW site - I've never allowed comments to be shown there. I come from the school of thought that it doesn't look "professional."

Per the OP: "They usually do show up a few hours after but just concerned that if it's not seen it doesn't generate as much exposure and comments for further sales. "

Exposure and comments were a concern for Andrew thus the discussion.

That said, buyers don't generally see the log in "recent sales" page. Then again, they don't generally go to the recently sold page either. Thus back to the original concern that a sale is not generating comments and exposure for further sales.

@ JC - Buyers don't generally go to see what has recently sold? Why is that?

Thank you JC, Donna and Bellesouth and Bradford for your input, you know i never thought of the comments under our images as looking unprofessional, now your giving me something else to worry about, lol. But seriously i agree Donna that it's not comments that make people buy a print.
