There seems to be this limited view of what fine art photography is these days - usually people in strange poses or floating or some other kind of surreal environment.

Agreed, Edward, that is what I hoped you all would find so interesting? I was hoping it was not me ... whew!!

Rene Magritte is chuckling in his grave

Laura, I confess I had to Yahoo Search who Magritte is. You taught me something ... thank you!!

Off-topic alert!

Rene Magritte is one of my all-time favorites -- possibly my very first 'Favorite Artist'. I discovered his work in a library book when I was seven or eight years old.

His 'Homesickness' fueled much of my melodramatic, adolescent-era poetry, short stories, and songwriting. If only he knew what he hath wrought! ;-)

I now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Okay, now I REALLY feel out of the loop .... Like I should have studied Magritte in college instead of Norman Rockwell, Edwin Steichen, and the like....

I just went on the Library website and ordered some Magritte books !! ..... what would I do without my FAA family.

But yeah, back to the topic of the thread ... don't know how I would feel if I were Magritte and in my grave. If it were the real me, I'd be saying it's about time I got my fifteen minutes of "fame".

Wendy I love you alerts!!

For the #Flickr10 series today, looks like one of my pictures made the Flickr blog ... the one on the bottom ... surprise to me:

That's a sweet, sweet photograph, Frank. Congratulations and well-deserved!

I enjoyed all the real images in that thread; such a nice mid-day break. :-)

Thanks, Wendy. Funny thing is I saw that image a couple years after I made it while archive diving. Looking at it the first time in color it didn't seem that great, but later when diving for black and white it popped !! I've always had an eye for black and white and usually shoot that way ... ...

Good choice -- color would have been a distraction here, rather than an enhancement.

It's nice to see your work featured on Flickr; you're such an enthusiastic ambassador for the site. :-)

Thanks, Philip, I agree. I like how you said that.
