Tweeting...any Helpful Tips?

Just started a twitter account (Thanks to Mike Savad) and I actually think its much better than facebook. Any advice on tweeting?
So far I have been tweeting my art with hashtags for oil painting, art and whatever my painting subject is.
I already have some followers and am wondering if anyone has any tips to get more.
Thanks in advance for any help....

with twitter it's better to stay away from keywords and focus on the people you want to attract. gut out the fine art stuff they add on - the i uploaded stuff and the @faa stuff. it eats up too much space. i always add my name #savad - to keep them all together.

Photography Prints

so for like this i would add words (space pending i didn't check: #bourque #jarCollector #BallJar #lemons #kitchen or #kitchenART #farmFresh #fruit

something like that. this way lemon farmers might be looking it up, or jar collectors might want something like that. then you have to also find those people by doing a people search. and look for ball jar - and see what comes up. if there are a bunch of collectors, follow them all. just beware that you can only follow shy of 2000 people before it caps you and gives you a ratio..

Thanks Mike, for giving me an actual example....didn't think of putting actual people to attract, I just always do the subject matter.
I will try that for Instagram too.....
I should have joined twitter a long time ago, seems much better than Facebook, where it's a struggle to get people.
Thanks again.....

they both have their highlights. facebook is an ok place to show a few photos to friends, but it's very easy to get lost in crowd of useless information. where as twitter is all text and hard to see in a sea of characters. it's easier to get a follower in twitter, facebook you have to hold your breath and hope they will like you back without questioning your first. i've gotten hits from both places.

Lurking here, as I too need to learn .

Pardon me - If I may barge in & ask a question too - Can Twitter be done from a laptop ?

I simply am unable to use those tiny little phone buttons.
Thanks.

Absolutely, that's what I've been using as that's where my photos of my work are.

I recommend trying twitter, I like it so far.

Thanks, that whole confusion has caused my delay. ( I'm not very good at all this stuff )

Well just a heads up, you can only post so many words, so keep it short. If you go over, you will see a number in red.
You also can't post images larger than 3mg. Don't worry, it will tell you if file is too large.
Good luck!

a laptop is just a thing computer. it was designed to use a phone, that's one of the reasons you can only use 140 characters.

All social networks are worth exploring - find your audiences in groups and hashtags. Show that you actually exist and not just auto tweet ~ people will thank you by a follow. You share your blog content, art news, new artwork and photography throgh these networks - your hub is your blog and website. Good luck, Juergen @NatureFineArt

For those of you who are hesitant to try twitter, give it a go! If I can do it, anyone can do it. I'm @RosemaryWPhoto on twitter.
