Removing Pictures From Contests...

Hello there, got another newbie question.

I am hosting a very specific contest and there are some pictures that might have something to do with it if you use your imagination and good will, but others have nothing to do with it whatsoever. I don't like the idea of removing images at all, but I like the idea of getting someone with a nice picture that has nothing to do with the concept to win even less. I would feel the other contestants had been cheated. What is the right protocol to follow here? Should I just live and let live or expel spammers?

Thanks for your patience, as usual.

it's your contest and your rules if people aren't following the rules you owe it to the ones that do to remove them.......welcome and don't worry too much about it and have fun.

if they don't fit, remove it.

Take them off unapologetically. They are not following the rules, they are under some false assumption that being viewed gets them attention and gets their numbers up, but all it really does is piss off the people who followed the rules and the voters who have to wade through it to get to the correct ones.

OK, let the ax fall, then. :)

Thanks for the quick answers.

I'd have to agree, give them the boot. Your house, your rules.

What Louise said. When I run a contest I clearly state in my rules that image that don't follow the rules will be removed without notice. Haven't been challenged on it yet except for the time when I accidentally removed one that did follow the rules.

I didn't think I would have enough entries for a contest I hosted once, due to all of the ones I had to keep removing (deleting) due to not meeting the contest criteria. Finally had enough within the criteria for the contest to complete though. If you've stated in the rules that non-quals will be removed, just do it. No further explanation by you is required, nor should it be. Far too many people do not read the rules.

of course if they are my photos, just leave them there...

:)

i find though that there have been many contests lately that have like 37 rules to follow, and i just don't have the time for a prizeless contest and just fill in what i think works best. ok they want this, that and etc, they want birds, photo, 3, done. the rest of that is not needed.
