Questions To Ask Artists

What do you ask artists when you meet them at a show? I ran across this good list. Maybe you can add some of your own?

from:

http://artistthink.com/2013/04/05/asking-artists-questions/

- Is there an artwork here you are most proud of? Why?
- How do you know when a work is finished?
- What inspires you? What inspired this piece/idea?
- What is your most important artist tool? Is there something you canít live without in your studio?
- Is there an element of art you enjoy working with most? Why?
- How did you start making art?/Why do you make art?
- What subjects do you enjoy painting/photographing?

Have you made you booth space yet?
Trust me. It's the first concern....

Good questions, Edward. In my case, finding out just recently that I'm unrefined, and have no acquired tastes (those statements are presented as humor here), I would more than likely just ask the artist(s) how long it took them to paint or process the piece of work I'm viewing at any given moment.

I'm always interested in seeing their newest work, aren't you?

Edward,

More pragmatic:

1. How is the show?
2. How are your sales?
3. How is the support here?
4. How was setting up?
5. Would you come back.
6. How's the judging?

On busy shows, most artist won't have the time to answer your questions and if it's slow, they won't want to talk either! LOL!

amen, Rich,,,,I take it you've done a few!
I rarely had real conversations with other artists at shows ( unless their booth was next to mine and we had time to bemoan the lack of traffic/sales.)
