About Time Night Owls Get Some Love

How many are fellow night owls here? How many get tired of hearing about successful early birds? This is for the owls...

As of lately I have been burning the candle at both ends. Late to bed and early to rise. I have always been a night owl and worked much better after the kids were in dreamland. It's quieter here and I can actually think. REALLY THINK. lol But as late as I am staying up, I have still managed to get up pretty early. When I set out to do something, I go all out until I can't. Thank goodness I have not arrived at that state yet. But I know I will have to rest some in the near future just so my eyes can stay focused.

Sorry Roy,

"The research, done at the London School of Economics, showed that people with higher IQs are more likely to stay up late and that they show higher ‘level of cognitive complexity.’"

Looks like we are "better" than you.

Now I am waiting for the study about how great second shift people are!

Early to be and early to rise. I've never liked night work. I'm up at 4 or 5 every morning. I'm ready for bed by 9 or 10 - even if I read for an hour or so after I get there.

I am sure it is quiet and peaceful at 5am. But the only way I see 5am is if I stay up until 5am.

The peace and quiet seems to last much longer at night than in the morning.

One of my favorite songs...

"There are times, when all the world's asleep..."

Love that time!

Don't need some love... Just some sleep!

Great tips! It's just evening here, a long night ahead....8p.m.......catch ya later!

Hoot, where's the rest of the owls? 3:37 am now....:o)

edit: I find it easier to be creative and get artwork done later. I use to do a lot of woodburning late into the night up until dawn, then go to bed. It's so peaceful and quiet, less distractions. Loved the article, thanks for sharing the link.

I've been a night owl for decades. On my last job of 10 years I gradually worked my way to where I'd stay up as early as 4 am, sleep 4 hours and be at work by 9 am. I could do that maybe 4 or 5 times during the week with no apparent ill effects no apparent ill effects no apparent ill effects no app-- .

Seriously, I usually do computer stuff from about 10 pm until 1 or so, then practice bass guitar through headphones while my girlfriend sleeps a few feet away. Everybody's happy.

Definitely an Owl - which is actually a pain for my other half who is a lark - he usually gets up when I go to bed! It's just about to hit 4am here. Then I'm up about 10ish. Designers sleep... :D

Plus, it works for me because most of my work is on oversea sites, so if I do post anything, I tend to get more hits than I do in the day on UK time. It's what I have always been used to.

Wendy,

I have thought the best hours for a photography would be third shift.

That way you can get shots during both golden hours without having to get up at the butt crack of dawn and you could spend the night shooting night scenes or editing images.

I'm both Night Owl and Early Bird . . . and will take all the 'successful people' tips I can get. Yep -- I read them all! ;-)
