Do You Have More Than One Blog For Art?

Do you have more than one blog for Art? Do you post the same blog twice? Do you think more than one blog on the same subject is effective and worth your time?

Good idea Roz for your FAA blog. I was on the Wordpress that would't allow any mention of other sales sites. It seems the more images allowed the longer the blog! I understand having time for only one blog! I rather like the one image at FAA, it keeps it short and sweet but I have seen other FAA blogs that had more images. I image one could upload a widget and get more images on the FAA blog.

When you first responded Roz I couldn't stop laughing when I saw your icon smiling at me and your simple statement "...it would be too much work for me." I'm still giggling over it, you made my day!

I am discovering Sheena that discussions helps give me ideas for blogs. Some of my comments have become my blog!

To answer your question Suzanne, my blog is on wordpress.com. I do have blog entries on here but I don't consider it a blog because I just copy and pasted info about my paintings there.

Yes, I was meaning I have my own domain.

I wasn't familiar with all the social media stuff (like blogger, twitter, tumblr, fb), and it's almost taken me a year just to figure out the fundamental of these sites, like what kind of site it even is i.e. blog, store, feed) and how people use them. Let alone how to actual post on it myself- lol

Just one ... http://maryoaartwork.blogspot.com/ and have enough trouble having time to keep up with it, so have doubts about more blogs! Who sees them and how?

Ugh! been trying so hard to get started on my blog here on FAA....so no I would be happy with one at this point!
I love art blogs and seeing what other artists share, so the more the merrier in my opinion....but as for me I am much too busy to even barely maintain one.

You'll find the right path, Suzanne. There's a ton of great info on blogging to be found online. I think I'd have gotten off to a much more efficient start if some of these resources had existed back in '05, when I began blogging.

I did have best results from my blog when I was posting consistently -- as in several times per week (sometimes daily) -- and maintaining an active give-and-take dialog with my blog visitors. That's what I'm working to regain.

So very much to do . . . so very little time! :-)

Thanks for responding Roz, Maryellen and Wendy,

Maryellen: I can imagine it is a lot of work maintaining more than one blog, even mirrors! Apparently they must be worth the effort or you probably wouldn't be doing it. Is my Own Domain.com the same as having your own independent domain?

Wendy: I feel the same way, I want to talk about a lot of different things within the Art field. Right now I need to be consistent with my blog and try different things. Like art possibly "develop" a style, see what feels best and find out how things are supposed to work.

I use my FAA blog only as a link to my primary blog - http://art166.info - which existed years before I joined FAA.

I'm actually trying to convince myself to start a second blog; ideally, I'd like to have one that is more artist-centric and another that provides images, information, news, etc. to collectors and potential buyers. The idea is based on some conversations I've had with real-world buyers.

Right now, I'm trying to decide whether the extra work is worth taking on. I'm having a tough time getting my first blog back up to speed (after ignoring it for a couple of years), and want to be comfortable with that before starting another.

I do have both, but basically just cut-n-paste the same content on both. I'm also wanting to incorporate my blog on myOwnDomain.com. If there was a way to use the same blog on all your website, then that would be my vote. I can barely keep up with content for one blog let alone multiples. Even maintaining all these mirror blogs has me concerned on just monitoring.

I'm not as knowledgeable about the internet as some so I was thinking traffic, say if you did Blogger and FAA? Does that not sound reasonable?

why would you?

Roz is your blog on FAA?

No, just one. More than one would be too much work for me.
