The big skip certainly speeds things up (loading and scrolling down), but IMHO ... images get "lost" in the big skip because hardly anyone will open the big skip just to see other artists' images.

Oh, BTW... Snow

Oh, I understand. But as I understood it, the Big Skip limits how many posts are seen, supposedly, so the number o images to load should be limited as well.

But maybe there's some server-end slowness in the way it puts a skipped discussion together.

"Slower" is not caused by the Big Skip, John.
Slow and Slower is caused by the many images in a thread that have to be loaded when the thread is opened.

Threads like this one get slower with every image that needs to be displayed.
The "Fun Game" Thread is still loading pretty fast because there are no images in it.

I don't know why but it definitely was SLOW....

Just curious - How does it get any slower once it triggers the "big skip"? At that point it's always serving up the same number of posts (and thus images) no matter how many are added thereafter. Right?
