I love to paint city scenes at night. I think it’s a real challenge to be able to express the complexity of an urbanscape at night time, whatever the medium or the technique used.
Please, post your urban night time scenes in any medium.
I’ll start with two paintings of mine, an urban nightscape from Paris and another one from Lyon:

It isn't total darkness/night, but I hope it is close enough for government work.
Speaking of night scenes; do any of you folks take a bodyguard along on your night shoots? I used to hire an off duty policeman at $50 for protection. That way I wasn't concerned about any ominous wrongdoers nearby. Ocala isn't conducive to night shots. When I visit strange cities I don't feel safe during hours of darkness. Just wondering.

This could be any city anywhere from the water... I made it up - I think it is "on fire" because of the approaching Autumn but also because I have lived rurally for 30 years and the city looks like it is on fire and never sleeps and busy bustling activity while the viewer (or I the painter) seem to be looking across the water at it from a distance - This is an original acrylic painting on 24 x 36 gallery canvas - everyone's work is wonderful on this thread !! Nice to see such a variety ;)

fabulous paintings EMONA .... true painting a scenes at night. is a real challenge ... I think any artist should change lighting conditions from time to another to explorer more and more rather to stay at one light condition

It was my first night in Miami and the downpour started just before sunset. The setting sun and car lights painted the surrounding buildings and the wet city streets below in a palette of vibrant colors as the sounds of traffic on wet streets and sirens drifted up to my balcony. After five years living in a small college town, it seemed like I'd moved to a different planet.
