12 Most Striking Tendancies Of Creative People

My sister just shared this link on FB and I thought it was kind of interesting. What do you think? Do you agree with these traits? http://12most.com/2012/03/13/12-striking-tendencies-creative-people/

@Shana -- I don't really think there is a "creative type". The creative people I know are an incredibly diverse group, but each of them probably matches some of that list.

A LOT of people probably match some of that list -- after all, everybody's creative to some degree. For instance, the list could say

13. Enjoys traveling, or

13. Can't carry a tune, or

13. Dances like a chicken.

At least 1/3 of us would say, 'Yes, that's me!' The thing is, 1/3 of everyone we've all ever met -- even if that's a million people -- would probably say the same. (In my head, I'm trying to figure out which of you guys are the 'chicken dancers'. . . )

Most seem to be me, maybe a couple aren't but that is OK!

Someone said that only boring people get bored and I agree :)

Interesting perspectives and opinions everybody.

@Otil, thank you, it has been a while, I have been quite busy offline. Nice to see you too ;)

I can see how many see it as being generic. That being said, those of you who think it is too loose of an interpretation, what are some things that you think that should be on that list that are more specific to being a creative type?

I identify with most of the list, in some way or another, but it definitely is bound to differ from person to person.

I actually don't find myself working a lot. I may spend a lot of time to set my photographs and I feel tired after all but ai don't feel working at all since it is a pleasing tiredness.

And I don't find myself making a lot of mistakes. I actually finded out, talking with others, that I got a lot of things right when experimenting, learning and testing things that ususally people starting doing wrong. Even things that people tell me that I should leave to learn later because of the dificulties to do for the first time or the material, I found easy. And I don't know why because I consider myself really stuped and very distrated. I lose my attention and forget things very easy but seldon I make mistakes, and I don't remembered if I ever made a mistake that compromised all my work.

Never bored, always find something to do! All else is very true except hardly ever make the mistakes, possibly from being a focused person and somewhat of a control freak! :) ~ Debra

Very cool....I agree

All of them apply to me except #5. Make lots of mistakes.......I never make mistakes....at least that I'll admit to. :-)

Martha Harrell

Yes, I think that creativity is what moves the world along. Creative scientists, medical people, inventors of all sorts.

Chuck Staley

Most apply, but I can't say that about No. 5. Make lots of mistakes.

You don't work in live TV very long if you "Make lots of mistakes"

And I started taking pictures with film, where one shot did it. Two at the most.

Marcio Faustino

Yes, its describes very well how I am. :)

Good, now we need the list of 12 traits that we need to watch out for.

I can see myself in most of these tendancies except maybe the most important two. 10. Motovate themselves , and 11. Work hard.
At this stage of my life I am fairly comfortable as art goes. I usually paint what I like when I like. The sale of paintings, - or the lack of, will not make me or break me.
There was a time in my life when I worked harder, but now I am in the phase that wants to enjoy painting, and let it be a theropy. I do not need the stress of pushing myself day and night to achieve perfection, but I still make an effort to do better when I paint. ; )

I can relate to a bit of this. I follow the crowd just long enough to get an understanding from them and then I venture my own way. Taking with me the frustrations of conforming to spark new ideas.

Ricardo De Almeida

Generic IMHO.

The list feels like the 'daily horoscope' -- just general enough to fit almost anyone.

A lot of it works for me, only I don't think I've ever been bored, and I'm only a good collaborator if I get to choose and decide everything. ;-)

Tony Murray

Too generic. That list could fit many social groupings.

Angelina Tamez

Interesting list. I think most of it applies to me.

OTIL ROTCOD

Yup All of the 12, and can I add
13. Moody. Artist sometimes tend to be moody. Prone to different change of mood, specially if they are on the creative mode. Thus translating it to thier works.
Good to see you again here on discussion dearest Shana.

@Mike, I agree..
@Roy lol

Roy Erickson

Well, 10 out of the 11 fit pretty well. I've given up on #11 Twenty years ago was a different story.

Mike Savad

i guess 12 should be an OCD thing. in that list it was just a title.

@JC, lol I can only imagine!!
@Jim, just because the writer chose only the good to write about does not mean they are any less accurate, just means they left a few things out lol
@Mike, I didn't even think to count them lol

Phyllis Beiser

Pretty much sums me up.....

Mike Savad

unless i read that wrong, there were only 11 things as the 12th was just a recap of the article. i would be all of them except the risk taker. but then again you can apply that list to a serial killer as well, it's kind of broad.

---Mike Savad

Jim Hughes

Possibly accurate, but sounds suspiciously like an all-positive description of an idealized creative type, written by someone who thinks of themselves as a creative type. I'd like to see something possibly more realistic and objective.

Ed Meredith

Agreed... However, i may have a short attention span but i'm never bored...

JC Findley

ALL 12 are spot on for me....

(Oh, rule three goes over really well in the military BTW.)

Shana Rowe Jackson

@Catherine, I know what you mean, we all need a break once in a while though lol

Catherine Howard

Oh yes! Describes me to a "T" ! ( except maybe the working hard part..lately )

Shana Rowe Jackson

@Dan, lol I'm with you there!!
@Gail, I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
@Abbie, I'm sure not all apply to everybody, we are all creative, but we are all still different!!

JAXINE Cummins

Yep!!!!!

Abbie Shores

None are me...okay perhaps one. Seems either we are all individuals or I'm not creative

I know a lot of others like all of them though

Gail Butler

I completely agree! Thank you for sharing THAT! I also enjoyed the post on "Advice"!

Dan Turner

Pretty darn accurate! I was going to disagree with easily bored until I realized I WILL fall asleep if I get tricked into accompanying someone to the mall or to go shopping.
