Faa Tops By Me.

Having tried various other art sites out i can say without a doubt that FAA is the tops, having recently checked a sales report on Artist Rising and noticed i had sold a print for over $38 and received $0.00 royalties....something stinks and it's not the fish i bought. Sent them a message about it but i'm doubtful of getting a response. Why do some sites like to take us artists as mugs. At least with FAA you can be sure of getting the percentage that you are happy with.

I forgot which places I had a free account. I did a keyword image search and saw some of my photos on imagekind. I checked and I made no sales. But if a sight can't even send me a spam mail once in a while how can they stay alive? Project for today is make sure I don't have files floating around on other sites. Faa is the best site for selling prints.

Yes i have noticed Art.com advertising sales lately which could account for the lack of royalty from Artist Rising, i did recieve a little check the other day for previous sales but really wish they would start using paypal.
That's odd Elaine that you could only register for a customer account.

Phew! Think I just dodged a bullet ... I tried to set up an account with Artist Rising yesterday, but for some reason it only registered me for a customer account. Having tried to make sense of the reams of small print, I thought I would see if there were any discussions here on FAA about them, and you guys have told me all I needed to know!!! So glad I didn't get as far as uploading any images!

if your getting zero dollar things complain to them. they do eventually answer if you bug them enough. i do know on zazzle if they run a sale, like - free cards. you will get no profit at all.

you won't know if they will use the work once it's gone, just like now.

Yet again another sale on Artist Rising today only to receive $0.00 royalties...this firm can't be serious, How do they justify not giving a percentage to the artist...they are making money off us, Also if i delete my work what guarantee do i have that they won't still use it?

Haha, sounds a good idea Peter, apparently i noticed a discussion on Artist Rising Forum that they are no longer giving royalties on things like framing, still puzzled as to no royalties on actually using my image though.

Andrew, you could send them this:
Photography Prints

Thanks Andrew and everyone else for the heads up, I had my suspension about Artist Rising, after realizing they were apart of Art.com and they had other 'affiliates".

Just received an e-mail from them, not as it has answered my question as it just states the royalty process of paying the checks out a month after sales...o.k. let's try to send another and make it clearer to them. lol.

Yeah... fishy for sure. I deleted my images but some continued to stay on their servers so they really weren't deleted, were they? About closing the account... it's impossible. I called them to close my account and yet, I still show up in google as having one with them every now and then. It's irritating.

Yes i tried to close it too, i deleted images but they were still showing up in the views...how on earth are people viewing them when you have deleted those images.

Really? I just opened an account with Artist Rising a couple of months a ago. I noticed it is hard to close the account. Anyone here know how to close it? I looked everywhere to try to close it.

Richard, I did like you. I had an account there but just did not like the site overall. I cancelled mine there also shortly after starting here. Andrew, I hope you get the money that is due you!

FAA is awesome. Great support, great community and setting your own mark-ups. AR only updates their site once per day (showing new uploads, visitor and sales counts) and gives you no choice on markups.

I was also surprised of the taxes taken out for your own royalties, that should all be sorted at our end, eg; your own accounts etc. The only reason i have kept them going is because of getting a few checks which to be honest isn't that great considering that the bank charges me for altering currency to U.K.

I'll keep you informed about a reply from Artist Rising.

Hi Andrew -

There is something wrong if you are showing $0 for royalties. I'm glad you contacted them, but... be aware that they have an awful reputation for not giving direct answer. Most of their email messages are canned and rarely and often, rarely on topic - IE - they don't give you a satisfactory answer. I was with them, made a lot of sales but left because of my CS experience with them. They were the only POD site I joined that actually took out taxes from my royalties and sent me a regular W2 forms at the end of the year.

Re's getting your images over onto Art.com and Allposters.com and any of their other sites... you don't need sales for that. They put 3-5 of my images on Art.com automatically when I joined ArtistRising. But, I had a hell of a time getting them to remove them when I left AR. I shared some of those email communications with Sean here at FAA b/c I couldn't believe how awful and unresponsive they were about removing them. It took nearly 6 months after I left AR before they removed my images from their other sites. I could have sold after I left and would never know it... they don't send out emails when prints are sold, etc... and if you are no longer a member then you no longer have an account to check for sales. Capice?

Let us know if you get a reply or get it worked out, and good luck :)

Yeah I can see where that would make one inclined to stick around. :)

i wouldn't have looked again if i didn't get that surprise check last year, they (just like imagekind), don't tell you if you made a sale. a part of me almost paid to be on artist rising, but then i held myself back, and never made a sale again. i still check back there when the name comes up to see if i'm getting anything or not.

I opened an account with AR before joining FAA and even back then they were very poorly structure for selling, I dropped them right after joining FAA and never looked back.

artist rising has big issues. many complain about that site, no customer support when it comes to money matters. i haven't had a sale there since last july, in which i got a surge. that site is connected to art.com. if you, by some chance get great sales at artist rising, then art.com will want your art, but once it's there, your money is cut, and the image is locked there. many people couldn't erase the image because its a potential money maker.
