Stitched Images - Crop Or No Crop?

When you stitch together an image from several shots, do you always crop it to eliminate gaps, or do you occasionally (or sometimes, usually, or always) leave it uncropped to show the borders of the stitched-together shots?

I've been considering tying some stitching and was thinking it might be an interesting approach if I were to leave it uncropped and maybe even not adjust the exposures to match, making it a more obvious photo-collage.

Yeah, it's been done, but I figure with the right subject that shouldn't matter.

Just curious who has tried this.

Thanks JC... yea and you don't have to worry about holding the camera straight.. just pick an angle and click, pick an angle click... ... ;O) change all your layers to 50% opacity +/-. I guess I merged them all for the drop shadow to work.

I love that Bob.

(BTW, where it is obvious and done well, you should have no print issues.)

i try to keep it straight when i make it. but i'll fill it in if i can. if your image does what it does to mine - turns into a smiley face, and if i cropped it all, it would look really silly. if it can't be cloned in, then it's cropped out. because you'll always have some scraps.

Leaving the space on those will get the "This needs to be fixed before it is printed" email in all likelihood.

My humble opinion for what it's worth... if you want to do a panorama, do a panorama. If you want to do a collage, do a collage. I would not limit myself however on what kind of effect to create with it but decide on what format you want to focus on first so you have a goal to progress towards.
