Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

Where's The Bacon?

I started this painting about 4 days ago. Came up with it with insomnia last week at 2;30 in the morning. I heard about a bacon shortage in recent months and it's so strange that this came to mind last week having to do with it. I have been trying to squeeze in time here and there with being so busy preparing for my husband coming home soon from the hospital. I was excited about how it's turning out so far that I had to share it. Hope some of you get a laugh and figure out why it's called "The Bacon Shortage"

Whoa, Dan! Never knew about that one. :-)

What about turkey bacon? How does that happen?

Bacon is sooo awful for us humans with all the chemicals/preservatives in it, but I have to say it is one of my favorite things to have if I am near some , It it an oxymoron to say Pig out on Bacon? or what would that be called? redundant? lol or cannibalism?

@Jani
"I can pound down a whole pound of bacon in one sitting. Love bacon! Scratch and sniff would be awesome! "

Jani, my dear... ask and you shall receive.

Oh great - we had "ham beans" and cornbread for supper. Ham beans - my wife's version is a huge hambone with lot's of meat left on it and pinto beans - personally - I prefer great northers - but either will be tasty with that ham bone boiled till the meat falls off and flavors the whole pot.

The wife's favorite food is Apple wood or brown sugar cured bacon. I think she would eat it every meal - breakfast, lunch on a "blt" with no L, and for supper as the main course.

Thanks Matt, Yes I thought the jet skiing pig was a nice touch. Have a great dinner

Awesome! Bacon IS the best! My favorite is the one on the jet ski! He looks like he's having so much fun!

Also glad to hear your husband is on the mend and coming home soon!!!!!

Now off to make dinner......no, not bacon......but almost as good, a ham steak!

Matt

Thanks Lois

"what if they're vegetarians?" What if - they'll get over it with the first taste of bacon!

Well, I guess they wouldn't be interested in a painting about living bacon, lol. :-)

I may be wrong, but scratch and sniff only emits smell when scratched...of course, those do get old and then you may end up with a rotten meat smell so maybe not such a good idea. :-)

Thanks Ann. @Jani hmm scented wax, interesting thought. I don't think I would want to paint something that smells. I could just see clients complaining down the line that their house smells like bacon all the time lol, what if they're vegetarians?

Scratch and sniff would be awesome!

I was viewing an artist's work recently and he claimed to use scented candle wax in the work so I leaned forward and smelled the canvas. Well, wouldn't you? Of course, as I did it someone looked at me funny and I told them, "He uses scented candle wax." She leaned forward and smelled it too. It didn't smell scented to either of us.

Interactive art is awesome and would go well with your type of work.

Happy to hear the hubs is coming home. I wish him wellness. :-)

Lol, thanks Dan and good one. Better go get more bacon before it's all gone and we start having bacon lines like soup lines

Great painting, but I'm more concerned about the bacon shortage. I was unaware of it. A shortage of bacon is no less critical than a shortage of air.

We have about 4 or 5 packs in the deep freeze, but I'll talk to my wife about stocking up on more.

Keep up the good work on painting and on disseminating news of impending world crises. LOL. ; )

I thought of stuff like that Robert smellivision lol, or scratch n sniff

Perhaps you can work in a crisp ready to eat slice of bacon into your work. I mean a REAL crisp piece of bacon. Just the "smell" of your art would attract potential buyers.

Thanks MM, with all this talk about bacon I am craving some also now

I love your work Leah! So you have solved the problem Leah, the pigs are in Tahiti or somewhere like that! Now wonder there is a shortage!

I agree Roz, meat candy lol

That's great. And I love bacon, it's "Meat Candy."
