Lynn,

You just need about 11,799 friends to send a dollar and you're there! Good Luck!

I'll be adding a donation button to my FB page. If you would all be so kind as to stop by and leave your donations I'll undoubtedly be able to buy this lens soon. I'm looking forward to it!

yeah I have a Canon 70-200 2.8 and a 1.4 extender I occasionally use that I'm very happy with

David,

Nice lens indeed! And Andy Rouse did a good job critiquing it. Bu the majority of these lenses will be sold to photojournalists working for the major papers and magazines with BUDGETS!!! Probably 80-90% and the balance to "hobbyists" that just have to have the next best thing!

Very few people here "need" this lens and like Nick, already have the gear they need and will make do with that. $12 Grand for a lens, is truly a luxury item for 99% of photographers,

Rich

Now if I could only get adopted by some really old, sick guy, with $$$$$........

I will stick with my 100-400 USM L 4.5, I use a 2X II external converter if I need, but never do.

http://www.andyrouse.co.uk/index.php?page_id=174 this Andy Rouse review shows what this lens can do in the proper hands while nice still way beyond my future

Seeing as I've moved from canon to micro 4/3, it's not going to be on my list. Even so it wouldn't be on my list anyway.

B&h gave it a good review, but man it's pricey! And heavy. 8lbs.I don't think it will be on my list anytime soon...

Hmmm .... with the 1.4 extender in action you would be down to f/5.6. Wouldn't a straightforward 300mm f/4 be more useful - and cheaper. I guess some sports shooters will get it, though, as it will allow them to pull away when the action moves closer.
