Before you check BlueHost, which is excellent, try 1and1.com. I used GoDaddy for years but, short of the long, 1and1 is a good competitor and I think is more focused on the internet business than GoDaddy.
Speaking of WordPress. I have the hosted version from Wordpress.com ( not .org ) and it does me good for just my photoblog. My portfolio is on Crevado.com
I don't have a website with pages of sorts, but a global profile that leads you to the many social channels that I am on. Check it out for an example: frankcasella.com
I believe that technology moves so fast that the only thing that should be stationary is your domain name, and you move ( forward ) your presence with the trends.
You know how it goes, the 'cold call' is dead, and before anyone will buy from you they will usually check you out on your business social media. So give them some eye candy.
Also, a great book is "Social BOOM!" by Jeffery Gitomer.
