Photography Contest

I suppose everyone here's gotten the email about FAA's photography contest, the prize of which is to give the winner's work some exposure on TV.

Has there ever been a similar contest for artists?

Here on FAA? Yes. Last year.

Thanks. Huh. How did I miss that?

Possibly because it was photography only?

i never got the mail for either one. but with all the backstabbing that happened last year, i only entered it for exposure and nothing else. there were people that took their votes back, others that stockpiled their votes so they had like 400 to prevent that. unless the system is changed this year where once you vote you can't take it back, i really can't play the voting game it's not worth my time. there were fights towards the end and a small internal war in that contests group, it wasn't pretty.

Another reason why I won't waste my time with another popularity contest.

Not sure which is the bigger joke, popularity contests or that ridiculous "Q Collection."

or the Q contest, what an honor...

what annoyed me the most about the tv contest was the constant spam i got in my mail box. every day, a dozen or more bugging me to vote on their terrible pictures. you would be amazed at the stuff entered. sorry sean, but i honestly couldn't wait for that contest to be over. then round two came up with the paintings. all i know is, i entered, if they want to find me and vote then fine. but no more playing games. i added the suggestion that there can be no take backs. it just hurts everyone. the arguments were entertaining last year, but for a contest, it's not something you really want.

during the time it would take to get the full spread of points (and even then it's just a chance if you win), i could advertise dozens of my own things and probably sell them. which is what i will concentrate on.

Mike any group that claims to be about quality art and doesn't include yours is nothing but a joke and an ego trip for the ah, individual in charge. Never answered my simple question but it's blindingly obvious that he has absolutely no graphic design experience. I'm opting to stay out of his threads. I'm not going to feed that ego anything.

As for the popularity contest, I agree. It's not worth the waste of time or potential aggravation.
