You may recall, I was going to change my first name just because I didn't like it all that much. I changed everything and then just as I was about to go to do it legally, my sons, my Aunt, even old boyfriends....all got upset with me and begged me not to change it, so I didn't.

that's a really long impossible to remember name... just letting you know... i'm still calling you beth.

if i change my name it will probably be Mike - but in lower case letters mike. simple. i was named Michael, but i found it was too long to spell accurately, so i made it smaller, i still leave out letters. maybe i'll just be called M, but then i'd need to wear a suit all the time.

so beth, how long will it take you to tire of the long version of your name and shorten it to a easier to write version? i can see name boxes and checks being a problem, unless they have more space across the pond. hear in the US they are impossibly small.

I was chosen this by Pari when I asked for a new name. I have bad memories with the old one and bad memories hold you back in life so, out with the old and in with the new :)

I am being called Abbie by my BF mainly but Bella is okay lol He loves the names and was urging me to hurry up and get them changed already LOL

well you have plenty of names to choose from. though picking out the middle name will be tougher on forms now. still calling you beth. 4 letters, most of them i can find on the keyboard, easy to pronounce, but i suppose i can spit in a different way when i pronounce it, so i guess it depends what i have in my mouth.

If I may be so bold as to ask an obvious question: why so many names? I see that Pari has several names, too. Is this a new trend?

Changing one's name is a courageous move. Ask ourselves, "Do we like our names?" If not, what name would you have given yourself?

Many Catholics have four names...given name and middle name for baptismal records...then a Confirmation name. I opted out of another name and used my baptismal middle name at Confirmation.

Each individually are lovely names, Abbie. Abbie Shores sound cool.

I will miss Lizbet,,,, but Belle,,,,, hmmmmm,,,, yeah,,, I can handle that. :>) (You are still Puddin' in my book!)

Good for you for making a change when you weren't happy with your name. I always disliked my given name, Mary Melinda, but everyone has always called me Linda which is fine. I wish I would have just changed it to Linda legally years ago. I decided to go with my initials for first and middle names on my artwork though. I think I like my initials better than my full name.

So Ms. Abbie, I did forget to say; Congrats. on your courageous change, & I wish you many wonderful adventures in your new identity.

Darice, as I am a bit of a weird looking person in the real world (all long dresses and shawls, duo toned long hair and no make up) I was told by someone here that it was 'SO much more you than stuffy Elizabeth' LOL

Abbie, your former name always brought to mind the senator's wife here in the US. Now you have a name that is uniquely yours. I've known others who have been brave enough to try name changes, and the changes always seem to suit them best in the long run. I guess nobody knows you like you do.

Keep the Italian parts, they'll google well. Not sure why a nice Italian girl would want such a British sounding name as "Abbie Shores". But, Lisabetta Eduoardinini, it's whatever makes you happy (that you can spell)

I am not Italian is why and Shores is my family name :D
