Setting Up A Facebook Fan Page; I'd Like It To Look Like The Examples

Hi!

I'm wondering if anyone might lend a hand... I've just started a Facebook fan page for my FAA art, and took a look at the examples under the facebook shopping cart app...

Mandy Wiltse's Fan Page Shopping Cart

I thought that looked great, but I'm wondering how to import all the art, the galleries, etc... there was alot of work & info in that example page, and I'm flabbergasted as to where to start importing all that stuff for the page.

The image here is as far as I've managed to get...

Thanks to anyone who might help! Olaf

Is there anyone experiencing this issue on their Facebook Fan page. The FAA Shop App appears in Windows 8 but not on an iPad, if you have solved this please fill me in
Thanks.

My problem is - I have deleted - I think - my once upon a time facebook page - since I haven't gotten any emails now in several months from FB - perhaps they finally deleted it. I don't want a "personal" FB page. My life is PRIVATE - but I'd like to have an artist page on FB. I have no clue how to do one without the other. I'm totally NOT interested in "friends and family" nor in telling about anything I'm doing other than my art. That my grandchildren are horrible little brats and their mother walks the street and that my dear son is brain dead - is not anyone's business but theirs - if THEY want to announce that to all "civilization" - they are quite welcome - but we've had a discussion about putting my name, my picture or my address on there. We don't even tell them when we go on vacation - because I'm not into someone coming by my house while I'm gone and they haven't the good sense not to tell the world. Friends - I have a few, maybe - but they get email or face to face - I don't do the telephone/cell or otherwise. And I'm most certainly NOT into those silly games played on FB.

So I've left FB alone - I suppose it could be useful - but at what cost personally?

I tried to add a tab yesterday( at the top of the Facebook Page) with the twitter logo...I went to edit...hit the + (add to) but could not get the option to add twitter...I wonder if you have to go behind the scenes with twitter to allow the app in order for it to be implemented on Facebook? I was going to do enable it yesterday, but all Facebook gave me was the option on the regular Facebook profile, not the artist page...

I cannot get my shop to show up on my Artist Page either. I've done a few things and nothing seems to work. It used to be there. There's a tab, but nothing shows up.

You can look at my Facebook Fan page. I set it up recently.

It's separate from my personal page.

Cynthia, my shop app didn't work at first also, then all of a sudden it did. I'm thinking there is a delay perhaps?

Best of luck!

Hmmm. My Shop app still isn't showing any images for me. You still here Isabella Shores? Any tips or help to offer?

I didn't read the feed above, so this may already be there, but you can customize the avatar (picture) for your faa shop...

I have neglected my Facebook page lately, removed bio and some information to re-do since I am rebuilding another personal website... but here is mine. I have the black and white round staircase shown for my FAA shop... https://www.facebook.com/dianasainzphotography

sorry if I am repeating anything from above... I haven't read all of the post

Robert I appreciate your approach, sincerely. It's good to be transparent. For me, it would mean 3,000 plus people hearing about my mother's knee replacement or knowing what my vacation plans are. I prefer to keep the two separate. It just works better for me.

I want my "buyers" to know my personal life as well. What they see is what they get. Yes, my family and pals also see my images. Gives them a change of pace from whatever else they post. As one of my "friends" said, "visiting your page is like going to an art gallery."

You know, we use the term fan page, but I haven't seen the term fan page used on Facebook. I think it's an outdated term, and we should use the term artist page because that is what we are are asked to make. Unless I'm wrong; honestly, I'm still confused. I haven't found the app column, and when I try to import images at the Facebook prompts, all I get are FAA stock images; none of my own.

Thanks Heather, I think I will have to start over. no biggie.

& yes, I agree for the Fanpage - the whole world doesn't need to be privy to your family photos. & Vice versa.

" I have the artist page to maintain some privacy and to perpetuate an illusion of professionalism. :) I have a lot of "likes" on my artist page - I don't want that many "friends" on my personal page." from Cynthia above

I totally agree. I have lots of photos of family and grandkids on my personal page, plus links to them. Anything they tag to me can be seen by all my 'friends' which would include lots of strangers if I had my art connections there too. Plus, my family and friends would not appreciate being bombarded with every art and photo image I might post. Personal should stay separate from professional, in my opinion.

I haven't done an arts FB page yet and am still reading things like this and looking at what's out there before starting one myself. I'm still getting photos onto FAA. Discussions like this are very helpful though.

Yes Janine - you create a page while in your regular profile.

Bumping up.

Is every one's Fan page off their FB personal page ?

Cynthia Decker

Because I curse like a sailor and have personal/family info on my regular page. I have the artist page to maintain some privacy and to perpetuate an illusion of professionalism. :) I have a lot of "likes" on my artist page - I don't want that many "friends" on my personal page.

Why create a fan page on facebook? Why not just incorporate your images in your regular facebook page?

Cynthia Decker

I did all that and still no images - is it because I have them in a gallery?

Here's the link to the app page - no images.

I am thinking I did mine wrong, of course. I opened a seperate FB Artist page - & did not go off my personal FB page.

Should I just make another one ? I really don't even know what to do with it now.

It required a sperate e-mail address - & that is just a hassle.

Images do take 24 hours to show after being uploaded.

You could try restarting it which can work

Please go to your FACEBOOK fan page the app is on now and EDIT PAGE
Click UPDATE INFO and go to APPS (left hand menu)
Delete FINEARTAMERICA App

Come to FINEARTAMERICA and BEHIND THE SCENES | FACEBOOK APPLICATION
Make sure your left hand side is enabled (profile) then the right (left MUST be enabled to keep the right working properly.

You should be all set again but, if you have no images showing, let me know

If you do not want the personal page to update, do NOT disable it but, instead, go to default settings and untick it there

Hope this helps

I echo what Wiktoria asked: I enabled the app, but the shop is empty. How long until it's populated?

Melissa, Martin, Gayle, & Heather

thanks so much for your quick response. It's really appreciated, since I'm working on it now.

Martin, thank you for clearing up what you meant about your process, it's something I had not foreseen. Melissa and Gayle , I will check out your pages for hints and tips to. Thanks so much!

Thanks, Heather, I'll poke around the widget some more.

Heather Applegate

You just pick and image you want for your cover image - or create one in photoshop or whatever program as Martin did. I had my logo as mine, but just changed it to one of my images.

There is no importing of images or galleries involved with the widget. That is done automatically. You just link it to your FB page in the apps section. I did it a long time ago, so can't tell you step by step how, but it's a simple process.

Click on Behind the Scenes, then click on Facebook Application. You will see a link to add the shopping cart to Facebook.

I should point out however that I have total control on how my post is presented, and not how another site (FAA) is presenting it, which gives it a more professional look. Also my images are not the same as here on FAA as each one is of low resolution and has my website address on it, for when the images are taken and used on blogs etc, as they have been in the past.

Thanks, Martin and Heather, for your quick responses and feedback.

Heather, I'd like to avoid Martin's experience if possible, and have all the importing done for me. Now that I have established the page, how exactly do I get that done?

That is, what are the next steps I should take?

Heather Applegate

You don't import anything, it's done for you.

I have recently built a fan page on that ghastly site. It took some time (about a day) to upload all the images on to it, though i did not upload every image I have on to it. I don't know about the shopping cart but I did include a link back to my 'artist website' page here on FAA.
