Gallery Strategy

It looks like most folks present the gallery rather than image view by default. The tools show you what is in the current gallery and what is not so I’m guessing that most people will have images in more than 1 gallery and some images that don’t appear in any – anyone see this as a problem? Would it be a good idea to have 3 tabs:

Images in the current gallery
Images not in the current gallery
Images not in any gallery

Thanks all for your help - going through the images 1 by 1

from what i know, you can create empty galleries, it will show up with that blue stain graphic. but it would only be listed in galleries. if your image is no in a gallery, there is no way to easily verify. it's a one at a time thing.

Mike - To your original question, I am under the impression that if you forget to add a photo to any gallery, that photo will only show up on the images tab, not on the gallery tab.
I also do not think there is any way to know if a photo is not in a gallery without editing each photo and looking. I might be wrong, but I think that is the way it works.

as you upload and edit make sure the image is in a directory. if it's not, then no one may see it as you add more images. i try not to repeat the images if i can, i limit it to no more than 3 galleries. like:

Art Prints
i have listed in steampunk, aviation and animals

you don't want to repeat too much otherwise a customer may leave thinking they saw those images already. i've seen it where people the same images into:

country
landscape
bridges
etc - like 9 of them.

and once you start repeating, you get bored. i try to add it here and there where i think it would fit best.

Thanks Mike. How do you know if all images are included in galleries? Do you have the same image in multiple galleries?

i'm not sure what your asking.
i have many images, if i didn't break them up into smaller groups, no one would be able to find things.
