Last night ALL my images were viewed within 3 minutes. This seems a bit unusual? Could someone be slurping all my images? For what reason? It seems difficult to access the full resolution images from FAA database, but the smaller sizes can be accessed and downloaded.
Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?

I have had the usual "bots" on FAA - New York, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Mountain View, Brea. Also, a few visits from Kiez, Germany. But I am wondering if anyone
has had visits from Gangzhou, China and Beijing, China? They are regular visitors to my site and am wondering if they are "Bots". good discussion....

It was happy time when I did not know about "bots". I thought I was being famous. Lol....

"...Visitor's locations are all from list above from FAA members."
Yep, the bots are fairly consistent. Had a "visitor" from Brisbane, Australia, earlier, just don't know if it's a bot or a real person, and probably will never know, lol.

Less than an hour ago I posted one painting at twitter. Just check to see my visitor and it seems they are all bots. Visitor's locations are all from list above from FAA members. :-/

Bots are people, too. Just a different sort. And it's a well known fact that they love art. However, they have neither taste nor money; so don't hold your breath waiting for them to purchase something.

JC, that seems like a reasonable way to assess visitor stats. Bots are necessary because they are frequently search engines cataloging pages for search results. Would not be good if FAA excluded bot page requests since that would cause FAA images to disappear from search result pages. I assume that image titles, descriptions and keywords all can improve search engine results if the search engines are allowed to "see" and catalog the page info.

FWIW here is how I generally guess what and who is viewing
ALL images viewed is usually a bot. (Though, like I said I had that happen and the "bot" bought a bunch and bought large.)
Sampling of my images on the first few pages or on my Top Picks Gallery = other artist perusing
Sampling of images from a single source of a particular subject or place, OR views of a single image from a single location over a couple days to a week or two = potential client.
Edit: Since you are a local artist and the views were from Milwaukee, my feeling is that it would be an ID or some sort of buyer that wanted to see what you might have if they needed something from a local artist for a project. Businesses often like local artists for their art.

I imagine if some images are viewed - say a sampling from different galleries, or a number of images in a single gallery, that would seem the kind of behavior I would expect from a real person viewing images. But viewing ALL images in ALL the galleries???

AR is Arkansas - AZ is Arizona.
Was looking at my visitors. Strange - almost all of them have had at least ONE visit. but some of the exceptions are images that I have entered into contests - not looked at.? Of course I understand that if there are 400 and most people vote for their own - but if you can only vote say three times - unless you are one of the last entries - anyone voting is wore out before they get to the bottom of the stack and quits looking.

I suddenly am getting images run through by San Diego and Riverside CA, I do not remember seeing those before. Have not notice any Kiez Germany.

David, at first I thought you had posted that as a clever joke, post all your photo thumbnails and see them all on one page.....on a serious note do you think it had anything to do with the FAA server being down yesterday......is that possible....

Same cities for me too. Just uploaded a new image a few moments ago, and Kiez, Germany was in the bot list of "visitors" again. I'm wondering if it's a bot, or an actual person.

As soon as I upload...one amongst these is always the first..they are prevailing the whole day..in visitors..
New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Beverly Hills, CA; Mountain View, CA,Brea CA

Of course it is possible to go through 62 images in 3 minutes. Though it seemed highly unlikely someone would go through ALL the images. Would be wonderful if they were so fabulously entranced by my incredibly creative images and unique style that they just had to view every single one - but it seemed unlikely. However, I am more than willing to accept that just such an event did indeed occur.

Impossible to stop anyone from stealing our images one way or the other. If you expose yourself on the internet, expect to be seen...and violated.

LMAO. David, sorry can't help but laugh when I read your post. Not that I dont believe in bots, because I know they are out there. But I don't think your issue is a bot issue. Seeing you only have 62 images, right from that start I knew it would be possible to go thru all your images. Heck, I just did it myself....I viewed all 62 images in less then 3 mins.

Yep, have rec'd visits from Brea, CA. also.
Isn't that home to the infamous Brea Tar Pits?

Anyone getting any visits from Gunzenhausen, Germany? I've had 4 visits from them, 2 per day, about 10 days apart. Another Germany "visitor" new to me is from Kiez. All the rest of my bots are from the typical "bot" places:
New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Beverly Hills, CA; Mountain View, CA.

Thanks JC. It is good to know FAA filters bot hits from Visitor results. Seemed a bit slow for a bot but it appears that FAA limits the duration between some page requests, so it is a bit confusing. Am not aware of any Milwaukee-based search engines cataloging the internet. Unless someone is slurping my whole website onto their hard drive, it could be someone in Milwaukee actually looking at all the pics - and that could be very nice.
Allow me to revise that slightly, now that I have looked at your site.
Since you are in Milwaukee yourself this may well be a real person quickly surfing your portfolio and 62 images wouldn't take long to do. Unless others are getting Milwaukee as well.
Reasons? Perhaps an interior designer or other Milwaukee area art buyer that wants to see what the local artist had. I had this happen once from Sterling Virginia and thought it was a bot but no one else was getting hits from there and then "the bot" contacted me after a month of surfing my site and told me he was using my art to redecorate his medical office and wanted to know if I could provide some additional data.
It is probably not someone downloading the 900 pixel images moving through your portfolio at that speed.

David, FAA has in fact started filtering bots but it has to be a known bot before it can be filtered.
Milwaukee is a new one on me, but I will let the higher ups know about it.
(That kind of time frame has to be a bot of some kind.)
The location was Milwaukee.
No filtering of bots? Does FAA include bot visits in the visitor statistics? If so, then the visitor statistics would seem to be quite misleading and of little value - Is there access to a visitor log where I can check visitors myself to see which are bots and which are legit?
