The purpose of this thread is to give these artists and their work a "space of their own " in the public view, .... and are selected from various FAA Groups, known by and posted into by these artists.

Sincerely , I am hoping more of them / you will begin supporting one another with comments, fav and votes. Far too many of our works are sitting, buried in individual FAA Groups. It is being proven that promoting your own work is no longer working in " Searches ".

This thread, this place, with over 70 SCENIC landscape painters, and over 200 paintings is an opportunity to make a difference, .... now ... so our work is SEEN : and it IS SEEN !!! ( The count is there and keeps growing and it has ....and that is just from one person ( myself ) being consistent in an effort to ... PROMOTE these works. )

Edit: You can go into the artists' portfolios and select any of their work/s that you can honestly comment, fav and vote on. The MORE that you do this, the more that it WILL be returned. If YOUR work is sitting in groups and not getting attention, as I've seen is the case with so much of this scenic landscape work, then begin, change it, make the difference.

What to do ? How to help ?


Go the artist's portfolio, select a painting, Below it is Vote, favorite, etc. Click ' Vote' and.... let the artist know in the "comment," that you DID vote.. then they in turn are likely to do the same for you in return.

At the top right of the painting, you will see ' previous' ... ' next' .... and by clicking onto 'next', it makes it easy to Vote on as many of the artist's works as you'd like ...in helping one another..and in appreciation of those who have Voted on your work.

Shasta--you've done a wonderful job finding some very talented artists that are not showing up in the search. It has been a delight to visit their works. I'm busy pressing next, voting, and commenting and plan to work my way backward in the list. It will probably take me days to work through this wonderful art show, but now that I've started, I'm hooked and won't be able to quit until I've seen it all. I'll be checking in as often as possible to continue my journey through this collection. Thank you for making one of my paintings a part of it.

Thank you so much. Your most kind comments are deeply appreciated. The truth is.... little gratitude for what all this IS about....who all it embraces and for whom all it could make a difference , may take awhile. Change has to BEGIN somewhere .... and that is what this thread and putting it together is for.

I am retired, so I do have the time to dedicate / invest as I choose. Today was spent putting ' VOTES' in place; something like 200 of them for some incredible artists and their work. The members of the groups that I do admin, were just some of the recipients and it is hoped that it will help.

Painting is a pleasure. Promoting is work. But with anything, you can find a harmony with anything you put your mind to, ... IF you understand the purpose for doing it. Promoting is a very important part of ... The Larger Picture.

Here is an example of what I'm finding :

Going back through the hosted / posted works, then entering into their portfolios, I am finding gorgeous works .... with lots and lots of VIEWS, but...not one single VOTE !

T H A T ... is the problem. T H A T is why your work isn't easily popping up on the search.

T H A T is the problem, the finding, the reason and purpose of this thread ! And I can only give you ONE VOTE PER PAINTING.

That one vote is NOT going to change things. But Y O U can. !

While Votes are GREATLY lacking, in the portfolios, ....let it be said that " comments', " favoring" are all IMPORTANT elements as well and even these are but a few of in the list of Search Engine positioning and finding.

There are various things which help the Search engine position of our work.

How your keywords relate with your picture, voting, favorite, sales, comments, featured in groups, are some. Promoting work beyond / outside of FAA is important and done through places like Twitter, Stumble, Google +, etc.

A lot of us with families and jobs, do not have the time to set up accounts and learn the in's and out's of all these. Each one of these, as do any and all FAA Groups we join, require consistent input / updating on our part to continue attracting and building a following. I know from experience ... I'm into three of these, ( Twitter, Stumble, Google +, etc. ) and admin three FAA groups ... and then there are blogs which require the same commitment, time / effort.

The point is : NO ONE SINGLE THING by itself, is the magic key. From promoting oneself, doing all this for oneself, picture by picture, for the time and effort this requires... no longer makes good sense to me. It is why I am looking at a better way of that " time / effort investment" for Scenic Landscape Painters.

It's no different in commitment, time and energy to do it for oneself, than to do it for many. MORE than 70 Scenic Landscape Painters have been brought together through this thread in a very short period of time. Our VOTING and supporting one another now, is just a beginning, but necessary for what can be done, where this CAN go, and HOW it can benefit many. The truth is ... no one can do what they love, ( paint ) and do all the promoting required, alone, .... and make much headway.

The Twitter, Stumble, Google + , etc., can be easily turned into the promoting ... the Scenic Landscape Painters who have and are helping one another.

This compliment came today from the publishers of a weekly, online, art magazine. I am deeply humbled and honored by it.

It's taken four years, exactly,( this month.)
Switching from conventional film photography to digital.
Overcoming computer intimidation ... by my first experience with one.
Joining art sites, learning and using the in's and out's.
Yet, continue to produce and promote the "Serenity Scenes" collection - started four years ago, April.

I'm in my late 70's - retired from a 30 yr career in commercial art and still haven't the time nor inclination to kick back on a cruise ship lounge chair.
THAT wouldn't do for me ... what THIS did :

" Many are excellent Artists in one field, few produce photos which do their work Justice. Love your post process, your handling of the Luminance also is better than many photographs. An excellent piece of work all around. Very happy to Feature, this piece of artwork."

I am humbled and honored deeply by this compliment.

It's one of the things in the FAA tutorials about HOW to shoot your art work ... which also, plays a very important part in our standing and success.

This post is not meant nor posted as a "brag". Rather, and hopefully it makes the point: that this journey and adventure takes everything you are willing to commit to it.

Anyone can get their work promoted or voted on, at this link. In my experience administrating 14 Groups, find that many on FAA do not read the help available in General Discussions. Others claim lack of time, etc. So we send to our members articles of interest which can help educate them or show them were to get specific information they need. Some may be boring to members who have been more experienced, but if it helps one person, it is worth my time to help.

There is assistance, FAA tutorials and help of all kinds readily available to everyone, -- for the beginners, self-taught, hobbyists to the professionals ...MUCH of which is accessible through Beth's efforts and tutorial listings. You yourselves, Nadine and Bob, offer a wide range of assistance to .... everyone also: Artists and Photographers.

The purpose of this thread
is to take a particular area of works which have been buried within the broad criteria of many ( over 200.000 ) FAA Groups: groups which include art, photography, digital, abstract, etc. etc. etc., and providing them a " gathering place " through which they ( Scenic Landscape Painters " ) may get help and to help one another.

Over 70 of these have been hosted here, who have much in common and therefore, can understand and help one another. Not many of these are both professional photographer and painter. I wish to point out that your compliment of my work, IS in recognition of BOTH of these disciplines. I'm pointing this out for a reason: There is a difficulty existing and which I experience,by going into a photography based site / assistance you offer for promoting, basically via the trading of comments, favs and votes. That difficulty exists within the over-abundance of photography offered. There's such an abundance of shots, daily, things get buried quickly. I found it difficult and had to open portfolios to find work of quality / subject matter a bit more than typical " point and shoot" - very little really stands out apart from one and the other.

And that's the point; Very little stands out apart from one and the other. It is also why, mine does.

Providing Scenic Landscape Painters of quality works, a gathering place out of their separate FAA Groups, and reasons for coming and working together, helping one another of common understanding, interest, disciplines,etc., is, as stated earlier, only a beginning point. This is NOT just another place, group, thread, etc., for "Dumping " . This is most obvious through the very things which are brought forth and put on the table before these Scenic Landscape Painters in the above postings.

No one way is a magic answer: each presents it challenges, opportunities, lessons and learning. I'm realizing the advantages for promoting as a specific group of artists vs doing it alone, wading through all the unlimited sites, ( such as the 15 art sites outside of FAA that I've submitted my work to for over two years ) and the social networks.

Clearly, this is where I am and have come to from the past four years. I'm looking for something a bit better, different, and am willing to commit to it, try it, and maybe find a better way as the result.

And you, yourselves, although your focus appears to be upon photography of the southwest, are certainly welcome to view the portfolios of the artists hosted here and honor them with your comments, favoring and votes.

This is currently being shared with individuals within those " outside of FAA groups " to which I've posted work, mentioned above.

Many of them, just as many within the FAA groups, receive comments on their work, ---- just as I have from them, which I've consistently recorded my thanks and appreciation with my paintings on my website. But, comments alone are NOT enough.

Well, we all know, because they are recorded there, by me, they don't count in Search engine standings. But in gratitude, it's a different rating, and a very important one, at least to me. It is thanks to their 'likes' and comments that many of my works have been made a part of a permanent, online gallery which is also made available on YouTube. So, their names with the paintings, mean something quite special ... to me alone.

Those of them who are scenic landscape painters, who do come here, and join in this effort, may benefit also by being promoted as a group through the channels of Twitter, Google+, Stumble, etc.

This is a beginning ... for change.

This particular work, is in honor and appreciation of a man half way 'round the world: someone I've never met in person nor likely will. Yet, he has been my most loyal fan. He has commented, shared and promoted my work on FB. In deepest gratitude for all he's done, he's received " Serenity Scenes" DVD programs I've produced, from which he has been able to move out of and beyond the chronic pain he has experienced most his life from age 19, from a tragic accident. ( See painting Description )

Staying with the purpose of this thread ....
