ehh as a digital artist It feels a bit... obvious to me what you have done. You might want to tweak it a bit more in my opinion, maybe soften those extremely blocky coloured parts. I am also a watercolour artist but I do it on paper, so maybe I am a bit biased.
What software are you using? Watercolors in real life or digital have been less than desirable results for me. However I have seen some outstanding results of other artists who have focused just on watercolors. So like anything else it is practice and finding the touch for it.
I have never been very happy with the watercolor filter in photoshop by itself. I am not sure if that is what you are using. If I use it I almost always combine it with a bunch of other layers and textures in combination. I like the way it has made the fish look, but I agree with Shawn, it may need a little more tweeking. I am not sure what, I usually get into a time wasting experiment trying out different looks..
I love the colors, composition and flow of this image, Roy. However, I'm not sure it holds up to high resolution scrutiny. I'd like to see the pixelation softened a bit, perhaps with some subtle blurring, while retaining the sharpness of the fish eyes. All in all, I think you're on to something.
Well, I appreciate all of your input. I'm using a photo program by Serif. This was sort of a failed digital image that I thought I'd try the watercolor 'function' of the program. I may play with it some more - the fish - I created them AFTER the watercolor debacle. and Shawn - I did watercolors for years - and this digital interpretation of that art is lacking in most programs.
