In Honor of my Niece, Jessica who died in her sleep on December 11th, 2012.
Jessica rose up to the challenge of many Physical difficulties she had and overcame them in order to succeed. She achieved her goals of Diploma, Job, and Home, before she passed away. She now has her wings.
So I honor her with this Sculpture, and I will overcome any difficulties in the future, the way she did. I hope this can inspire others also to "Rise up" and overcome.
What a great tribute to your niece.
Your sculpture has turned out great. I've been watching your progress through the discussions over time and its great to see it finished. Great work!
Amazing what an old couch can become. Very inspiring.
Thanks everyone. A Project I thought was going to be difficult, seemed to fall into place. I learned a lot and had a great time with this one.
Tony...Isaiah 40:31... that was the inspiration...My Favorite verse.
My Hope is that everyone can rise up and overcome those things that try to keep you down.
I will be doing a follow up Video... My Local Ace Hardware man Carl has told me that he would do the music for the video...They are having a grand opening in March and he wants me to bring Jeeves, Abigail and This sculpture to display for the weekend.
LOL...The Hardware store is like My Art supply store!!
My sympathy Dan for the loss of your beautiful Niece!
Your sculpture is a fantastic idea. Genius!
The video showcases so much talent. The gal singing has a beautiful voice. I saw another YouTube video of Carl's in which he sang as he played the piano. These people are as good as any I've seen on "America's Got Talent". Fantastic guy to be "your man at Ace Hardware". :)
Dan this came out wonderfully with all the work you have done. The ash field, lava and volcano is a great added touch to the outstanding work you have done with the flamed wings. The candles and incense are also another great addition to the final piece.
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your niece. What a wonderful way to honor her.
Roger, It's easier to grow and learn among the support of these Great Artists on FAA.
The truth is, I would never have tried to tackle making an Eagles head from a piece of Pipe unless I had the help to overcome the obstacle of thinking I couldn't do it, with just heat, a pair of Pliers and a small vise...No anvil.
It's the encouragement of all of you that makes me push on toward the accomplishment.
And the inspiration of the story of the Phoenix rising out of the ashes is a life lesson. We can all do what we think we can't, It we just try
I am dying to light the candles... Look for a video with the candles lit and incense burning...coming as soon as I can get it together.
Rise Up is an exceptional work of art Dan. It will give such a stirring of hope and endurance for those who view it and need something to keep going. From grief you created a wonderful memorial for your niece and so I commend you sir!
That's amazing Dan. Until I saw the work in progress I didn't realize how heavy and solid the sculpture must be. I thought the wings were made from aluminum. That would make a beautiful centerpiece. Thanks for honoring Jessica's memory with us.
Debra, The whole piece weighs in at 34 Lbs. Not really that heavy, but thank God it comes apart in three pieces for moving. The Head, Wing piece, and the stand separate. I like to be sure that anyone who may decide to purchase any one of my sculptures will never have to worry about breakage...Just don't drop one on a tile floor...LOL
