Color Film Vs Black And White Film Vs Digital Cameras

Do Digital Cameras have a control on them before a photo is taken to snap the photo in black and white if so this is a digital or manual manipulation. I entered the only black and white photo using black and white film into the contest being voted on currently. My photo was removed the only black and white film photo I submitted into the contest. I brought this to the sponsor of the contest attention and awaiting his reply. A photo using a control on a digital camera is not a true black and white photo you alter the setting on the camera. A true black and white photo is using black and white film.

Sometimes making a photo black and white make a texture stand out that was not noticed before. and then it reads post your favorite black and white photographs that have a unique texture that pops when turned balck and white. You do not make an authentic black and white photo unless you use black and white film. If you turn a photo black and white you are making a manual manipulation of that photo. Congrats in advance to all the winners....Cheers Michael Hoard

Contest are a good exposure to all of us.....but I am correct here and I made this observation......the rules have a double standard, they are misleading........

Here are the rules, and number one states making a photograph black and white, you don't make a black and white photograph unless you use black and white film.......rule number one and number three have a double standard.....

Sometimes making a photo black and white make a texture stand out that was not noticed before.

Post your favorite black & white photographs that have a unique texture that pops when turned black & white.

Rules:

1. Only 3 (three) photographs per member.

2. Black & white photographs only.

3. Images may not be digitally altered in any way.

I am not worked up its something I had noticed in the rules, its just a contest but the rules posted have a double standard especially the rule number three. Once you make a change via inner-net that is an altered state of the photograph color or black and white. When you process black and white in a lab and correct anything in the processing stages that is called dodging you alter the photo to achieve an effect you desire during processing of the film. The contest host did I post a remark about one photo he removed because it was a full color photo. My point is the majority of photos submitted are true color photos turned black and white. The rules are double standard And you are correct I do enter them to get attention to my work another means of FAA exposure to your work Unless any contest offers a genuine prize worthy of entering.....

Was going to look at the rules, but the only B&W contests open now are for paintings and horses... or is it in the voting stage now? If so, move on. Make your own contest if you want.

Michael, the contests are pretty meaningless. In my view it's not worth getting worked up about even if it is unfair.

The name of the photo is sole sunbather it was submitted into the contest being voted on currently and it was omitted from the contest this is an authentic photo, there are numerous photos in that contest which are altered photos using photo shop. And when you use photo shop this is digital manipulation. Regards Michael Hoard
