I am almost done with this. Maybe 1-2 days left in my second parody painting on Kinkade. I have a few questions I need from viewers though. Can you see the wrecking ball okay? Can you tell it has smashed flowers underneath? I am thinking of putting caution tape somewhere, maybe across the yard. The sign with say " This Property Is Condemned As Being Unfit For Human Occupancy" I am thinking of adding a tiny sign by the dog saying WTF but not sure don't want to go overboard. In my last few days of painting this I need to paint the animals, add words in the sign and details in the grass and stepping stones. Any other suggestion's?
Here is the first one if some of you haven't seen it

Good one Robert, didn't think of that. Maybe a small pile of beer bottles or the like ty

Leah.. I can't get the larger image to come up... just says webpage not found... but on the thumbnail..it is hard to see the wrecking ball or the chain it is attached to..and I can barely see the smashed flowers but perhaps in the larger image everything shows up fine! I love the idea of caution tape! How about a spin on a "Keep off the Grass" sign? lol Always wanted someone to do something with that ... sooo obvious... in a subtle sorta way. Maybe the words on the sign... with the plant in the corner of the sign or something?

Link did not work for me but if you go to her profile/images it is the first one. Looks good in large view.
It occurred to me that Kinkade would but one of those foo-foo little round fountains in matching stonework in the front yard - perhaps the fountain would be a good place for those old beer bottles to accumulate.

Hi Leah, very humourous. I like the theme and I often see the first one on the recently sold page. For your new one how about a pest control van in the driveway.

good thought Ginny. A fountain though would be pretty intriquite for the final days in this one. Maybe the next one. Thanks though

another great thought Andrew maybe the next one also! I should have come here first for suggestions before I painted it lol. Wrecking ball has to stay though for this one.

LOL, you are so creative! How about 'Get off of my grass'... (we always say that joking about cranky people, not sure where it came from?)

good one Penny, someone said that already but maybe I should add that in, and ty

good thought Barbara, but my caution tape was going to have that similar feel already. If I put crime tape it might cause suspicion of his death I might not want to add in something like that

I also meant to ask am I getting the Kinkade feel in this? I don't copy his work but have to get a good feel for second look from viewers to then get the parody.

I really like the idea of construction safety tape, but this suggest it should be part of a 3 painting series, where the 3rd one is a crime scene. Just saying.
Just what constitutes "crack house yard ornaments" anyway? I can think of none you might want to illustrate, unfortunately.

lol Gregory, you never know. I have to say I LOVE painting Kinkade Parodies , I hate painting landscapes but I laugh all through it when painting, so much fun to make fun of.

re your OP yes I see the wrecking ball but I might darken the crane thingy that it is swinging from and highlight the actual ball a bit - the crushed flowers are a nice touch. That said, on second thought, I might not emphasize the wrecking ball and machine too, too much (just a little) because part of the fun of looking at this piece is examining every portion of it and discovering things yourself, so as long as something is there, it does not have to knock your eye out.
Off point: the flowers remind me of a book I loved which I bought only because I could not resist the author's name - Lady Winifred Fortescue wrote "Trampled Lilies" (copied from amazon synopsis): "... from Sunset House in the French Alps she watched the beginning of World War II. Thousands of weary French soldiers tramped past as she searched for food and shelter for them. But as the Germans advanced, Lady Fortescue realized that she was about to be trapped in France. So began her mad dash across the country ..." in my opinion a very nice read, saved from being too Kinkadey by her wry humor and keen powers of observation.

Would it be too cruel to make the dog foaming at the mouth?
How about a demolition plunger in the foreground?

flthe crane could be brighter, or maybe you can add window and control gauge glow like the other windows. often he has reflections on things, maybe you can make like a koi pond instead of the dog, with the crane reflected in that. there would also be more machine behind the treads, it wouldn't float like that. i think to make it more apparent, that window should be smashed and we should be able to see inside it. being that the house is condemned, it doesn't look it, being that there are lights on.
i think to make the mast and ball easier to see the background should be contrast faded like he did, turning a foggy white. and the house a little less lived in.

I don't think you've captured Kincade's lighting quite as well in this one as you did in the first. It feels like your colors are a little bright. I love it though. Have you ever seen those yard signs with a pooping dog and a line drawn through it? http://www.dogpoopsigns.com/Dog-Poop-Signs/No-Dog-Pooping-With-Symbol-Sign/SKU-K-2269.aspx That might be a cute addition.

Crows. You need a few Ominous looking crows Leah. Which could lead to branding, bringing you right back to Poe

A crane with a boom that short would be useless to demolish a house. Also, the steel wire holding the wrecking ball should be straight, at least until the ball hits the wall. Then, it would bend for a short while slightly the other way at impact. Physics, it applies everywhere, even in paintings. I'd suggest to look at an actual crane doing that kind of work. I find these discrepancies distracting. You asked.

To me it looks like the ball is hitting the wall and knocking some stones off

Some points could be argued, but being too literal or realistic wouldn't fit with the artist's style or intent. It's a parody.

Part of the nightmare could be that it is the wrong house being demolished. Perhaps number 13 instead of 30.
Another winner, for sure!

That's funny Barbara, I was hoping people would have more questions than answers also, of what is going on

Leah, in looking again at the larger image, the crushed flowers stand out more clearly.
They may not need a shadow underneath if at all. It doesn’t look like a brightly lit shadow day.

Thanks Ken. It also is kind of a dark photo since my husband takes quicker shots when they're wips. I did highlight the crane and crushed flowers a bit. Added caution tape. painted the dog. But have a model coming over this morning for a photo shoot for my next painting. Hopefully I can get back to this one later today

I agree Ron, I put the caution tape across the yard near the machine so it draws the eye there more also

Think Dali ! Just don't be him, if you know what I mean. (way outside the box) His home, studio, actually turned my stomach, when I was there. Disturbing vibes. The superbowl tv add for go daddy has now lowered the bar.....so have even more fun...and liberation.

Good advice Ron, the Go Daddy ad? What was that about?

not impossible - supposed to show meeting of sexy and smart, showed hot blond and an IT nerd trying to eat each other's face.
... that's all.
however it was a bit repulsive, to put it mildly.

And yes, that was the point. What was accomplished by the release of this add? Generating interest and sales.....sales being the end point. It got our attention but mostly in a negative way. Motivated to get a "go daddy" internet POP? Probably not.

I got more work done in this and took some of your advice for improvements. I have one day left till it's done. Grass/yard detail and shading and letters on the sign and tape

Well I LOVE IT! I love the dogs face because his expression tells it all and this is what you want! Great work Leah!

Thanks Sydne, can't wait to finish it. Hope the viewer can see the wrecking ball and machine better also

I absolutely love it, Leah! and yes, especially the look on the dog's face...priceless!! Did you decide on the sign wording yet? I think everything is very clear and self-explanatory btw...

I decided to shorten it Catherine, and just put "This property is condemned" and then caution on the tape. What do you guys think of the garbage in the yard?

Here is the current progress photo again, I know when a new photo is posted in an old thread it can get lost. Should be finished with this tomorrow morning and took many artist's advice on here especially Mike's with lighting of the wrecking ball machine interior
