Hi Lenore, I'm catching up today after a few really busy days.
First, Heiko's "Lofoten Islands Water World" is an amazing capture. I appreciate the surreal nature of this composition. Such an incredibly still scene! Love the framing giving the impression that this is horizon actually the edge of the earth.
I also like Lauren Hunter's "Porthole" giving us a telescopic view into another world. Great find and composition, Lauren!
Roman Solar's "Blue Divine" is aptly titled. It's one of those awe inspiring minimalist shots that you just have to admire because it's so absolutely perfect! Does it get any better than this?

Linda, many thanks for selecting my Geometric Gem and for your gracious remarks about it. (Actually, windows are hosting the small squares.)

Brian Carson's "Toronto Flood #3 My Island" is a fantastic composition. Not only do I admire the time that he took to capture this, but also the artistry involved in composing it afterward. Love the feeling of isolation, the great lights and reflections. So nicely presented, Brian!
I also appreciate Jeff Galbraith's "Moonrise" for its unusual warm amber tones and the drama of the cloud formations. The color palette makes this an interesting and different moonscape composition - very beautiful!

Darla, many thanks for choosing my Geometric Gem. I am very much pleased that you like it.

oh dear. another one of those days where i'd like to choose about 5 pieces...
at least i get to choose two because of having to catch up.
for feb 6th i choose darla's skyline geometrics because the graphic designer in me appreciates a good eye for geometry and lines in the surroundings.
and for feb 7th i choose carlos ferguson's moonlight cloud because for some reason the extreme simplicity made me smile.

Thank you so much, Scott! I feel very honored. Although this doesn't count in the votes tallied for the month, it still feels good to be chosen occasionally!

Thank you so much, Menega, for this choice. But I also know how difficult it is to see a cat you've had for 18 years slowly failing in front of you. It is heart-breaking. Thoughts are with you.....

Hi Lenore, I'm catching up today after an incredibly busy week last week. Sure enjoyed viewing some great submissions by the group for the last few days! Also, many thanks to Menega for selecting my "Echo Chamber" a few days ago.
"Geometry and Textures in the Barn" by Gary Slawsky is appropriately titled and a great capture! I especially appreciate the oblique lines contained within the frame.
I like the delicate balance exhibited in "Barbed Wire With Snow" by Stephan Pietzko, in addition to the juxtaposition of sharp and soft textures.
I find gorgeous and wonderful minimalism at its best in "Cormorant Pond" by Joel Zak. Such interesting and vibrant colors provide an unusual counterpoint to the calm and serene setting.
Lauren Hunter's "Uneasy Feeling" creates an intriguing and mysterious mood. Also, I like the depth of the focal point surrounded by that black void.

I had to go back a ways to find this one ... but it had "staying power" with me, and I actually remembered the title -- "The Pitch".
I frankly was surprised to read that it actually WAS a real pitch -- sometimes, fate toys with our photos in a surprisingly GOOD way, and it could have been a sunlight dot, but this was and is an actual pitch -- probably much the way a batter sees it. How amazing to have captured the ball at precisely that instant, and so beautifully framed! It's a cool and memorable shot, and my POTD. Good stuff, Dale!

Ya know, I've spent a lot of time looking at bicycles as objects for interpretation by my camera through a "minimalist" lens, and I've SEEN a lot of groovy images of bicycles. This really has to be one of the best I've run across in a long time. I love both the texture of the (older) tire and also the perspective here, and how this simple object, in the right hands, can become truly good (abstract?) art.
Good job, Guy!

Hello Lenore,
Still traveling in Spain we have to catch up a lot. So we choose 6 images, at least 6 days are covered.
We work on internet via our router and to buy some Gigabites is very expensive, therefore I hope you will understand that we don't upload the image, it would eat too many of our bites :-) . Greetings, Heiko and Helga

Thank you, Lin. l always choose a window seat when I fly, for obvious reasons. This scene grabbed my attention on the trip from Prague to London last June because of the deep blue of the cloudless sky above and the flat unbroken layer of cloud cover below. And fortunately the plane's window was clean. Glad you find the image intriguing.

I am choosing Jenny Rainbow's "Winter Painting VI Aquarel by Nature". To me it demonstrates that what most people would consider the least appealing of nature's wonders are worth a second look, for they are exquisite in their simplicity of design and, though lacking in flashy color, are lovely. Jenny understands this!
