just got this email from a fellow artist here. Asked him to send a link because I have no idea what he is talking about. anyone know how to find what he's talking about?
" Dear Leah,
How did you get your work on Walmart's website. It's most interesting. Any info would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dale "

I don't see your work there~
At least not under your name...
Maybe he's seeing those side ads?

maybe, It just might be connected to FAA, but thought it could be possible that images might have been taken in China and sold as prints to walmart, it has happened before to me with a different company stealing my images

If you do a search here for Walmart your Lemon Head shows up. Walmart seems to be one of your keywords. Any connection?
to be honest, i just can't imagine really any of your stuff ending up in walmart. it's hits a certain interest group. i can only imagine they saw an ad for this place and saw your stuff on that. if he really did see it, ask him which image it was.

You should be so lucky, if they really have your images you should be able to get some good money out of it.

This piece here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Trademark-Art-Flight-of-the-Eagle-Canvas-Art-by-Lois-Bryan/19499332
Looks a lot like this:
Now, I'm not saying anyone appropriated anything. It's possible she licensed the image.
Yeah a buddy of mine looked into getting an invention that he has out on the market into a Wallie World and they have a detailed calculation method of what they will and will not carry.
I will message her, she is not on the forum here much. It DOES have her name on it on wallyworlds site though, so she MAY have a license.
Either stolen or licensed I would love to have art at Walmart. A buck apiece for a few thousand images = a lot, and settling a lawsuit with Wally-deep-pockets-world would work fine too.
JC - Did you check for your stuff? You have some quality shots and work that they might want.
OK, I figured it out. They do not have mine....
They do have a LOT of Lois's work though, so she is probably licensed with them.
How I founded Lois' image was I started here: http://www.walmart.com/cp/1045881?povid=cat133012-env444056-moduleA121312-lLinkLHN1Art_WallDecor&fromPageCatId=133012&catNavId=133012
Went to the first section, changed it to show up to 60 images and then just started flipping through until I saw something that looked familiar.
If you google walmart canvas prints... this is the first one that comes up...

I am not dead sure I want to sell a 48 inch canvas for 97 bucks though. IF they put it in stores, maybe. Online, I am not sure even Wallyworld would move enough to make up the difference in potential $/image....
There is so far a lot of stuff that looks familiar to the art sold here. Not sure who the artists all are but looks very much like here.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

Yes it was Lemon head Barbara, I still am trying to figure it out, didn't think FAA would be connected to Walmart
11 Years Ago
Wonder if this is a test to see if it works before adding more there? Unless the artist were contact one by one.
There seems to be another company involved called Wayfair. If you check about ordering on-line.
FAA cannot sell with Walmart at the prices listed without contacting the artist as Wallyworld's prices would NOT provide the agreed royalty to the artist. (Unless they have a couple dollar markup on 47 inch prints.)

you guys are now making more curious with what might be going on since now I have had at least 3 people tell me they saw "Lemonhead" on the walmart site. hmm
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

The guy gave me a link where he saw my piece, I haven't checked it out yet

i didn't see lemon head there, or any, i only see it when i type walmart into the search here.

Leah that piece shows up on FAA when you search 'Walmart'. Do you have a Walmart as a keyword?
Leah, I cannot find your work on Walmart's site. Unlike Lois's, your work does not show in a search, either by your name or title "lemonhead." You DO come up on a google search for Walmart Canvas Art, but that search leads HERE to FAA. (as posted above by Catherine.) If you have Walmart somewhere in your tags, that would make sense. There are 39 images with a Walmart tag on FAA.
Perhaps someone ran a search for walmart canvas art and found your work but didn't realize it is actually here on FAA.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

just checked it out, looks like we are connected with Walmart now, lol. Very cool actually. Glad I was picked to be part of it especially with a print I have never sold before
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
no I never use Walmart as a keyword
Leah - I poked around Walmart.com a little just now and saw Google-based ads (aka google. adwords). At one point around the holidays at least, FAA was running Google based ads where you would see Ads for FAA showing you artwork you had looked at previously. I noticed it myself because I saw one of my own pieces in an ad on another site. Took me a second to realize that it was Google's cookies showing me an ad for my own work because it has no idea it's mine but I had looked at it. The idea of showing you that is supposed to be that you remind buyers to come back to the site and buy something they may have liked.
So, if FAA is still running those type ads, and your friends looked at your work on FAA, they could see FAA ads for your work on other sites such as Walmart.

I just saw Lemonhead on the link above. Wonder if it shows different selections each view?
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

JC I never ever used Walmart for anything lol hate the place and I use real keywords for my work, so it's still strange how it comes up then
11 Years Ago
I would go in and edit it out so no one reports your for spam. With all the glitches you just never know.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
really JC? I never put it there! Did someone who works for FAA put it there ? VERY WEIRD!

The 2nd time I click on the above link it shows this
Sponsored Links
Walmart.com's Sponsored Links are provided by the Google AdWords™ program. Companies pay for these links to have their products and services appear with specific search terms. These listings are administered, sorted and maintained by Google.
Clicking on sponsored links will take you away from Walmart.com. The website you link to is not endorsed by Wal-Mart.
my copy: it has a little Walmart in the corner of this message? The first time I clicked the link I saw 4 images or so?

Andee, she has a ton of work with Wayfair - search "Lois Bryan" wayfair on google and see what I mean! I'd never heard of Wayfair before this thread. Considering the volume, one hopes that she's aware/approved their use of her work.
Lois's work is on Walmart's site, but my guess is it is in the contract at Wayfair.com that they can put it there. She is probably on Wayfair and thus gets the Wallyworld exposure.
I know Society6 has similar language in their TOS that you can click and allow your work to be sold at __________ . (I forget where it was.) Anyway, there you get a 10% royalty sold through them at site X.
I do not go to place I am not sure of. Esp when they do clicks for cash and then there is the Malware scare.
I emailed Lois right after seeing her name on here but not heard from here yet. And JC sent her a PM as well.

I checked my keywords on Lemonhead and WOW Walmart is in it! I never put it there! Walmart is not ever in my vocabulary till today, SO HOW DID IT GET THERE?
it's odd. and i wonder if the others put that in there. i guess you can remove it and see if it leaves. it would be nice if there was a control. like if you knew that the lemon was really in walmart, if you removed that tag, if it would vanish from walmart too. like its behaving as some kind of link. i wonder if this will be another amazon, and your in the test field. i guess sean would know best.
---Mike Savad
Yeah, I sent her a message on Facebook actually. I have almost NO doubt she is aware of and signed up for the site but better to be safe.
Has anyone ever checked Amazon? Most, if not all my work is on it (for outrages prices). Sean told me that everyone's work is on Amazon.
Thanks for looking out for me, JC and Andee .. but don't worry ... I'm under a lovely little contract with a manufacturer / distributor and have been for a few years. It's all good.
while i didn't see you here - try typing ebay, see how that word is abused in there.
---Mike Savad
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac

I wonder if it is a test Mike, what else could have happened? I never would use Walmart as a keyword, it's not my clientele anyway
11 Years Ago
Amazon = GOOD
Hey, it is a 15% markup over the straight FAA price and people BUY it and I STILL get my royalty.
Amazon is a GOOD thing.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
Yes Lar we are all on Amazon
amazon is a good thing, walmart is an odd thing, and ebay, is a strange thing - especially to use as a word.
---Mike Savad

I don't think I am on Amazon yet, I can't seem to find my stuff there, is he done putting everyone on there or is it still a work in progress?

Shana google your name, it should come up if you have work on amazon, if you don't see it maybe they are still adding more. I have had stuff on there maybe a year or close
11 Years Ago
It is a work in progress Shana. It takes a while to get it all there. (You are not yet BTW.)
Only about half my FAA images are on there but there is more there now than a month ago.
it's nice to corner the moron market. i wonder how many sales they get that way.
---Mike Savad
Shana just as Beth to sync you in if you are not there yet I think that still works.
Lois glad to here is is all good...keeping secrets huh? LOL well not anymore..
Hey a moron is a moron is a moron ... hum how many times has someone accidentally typed in moron when looking for a piece of art.
Beth will sync you to have you guys up to date you just have to ask, Note sure if by thread or if you have to do the contact us ticket thing.
there are a few in there i would ID as moron. the grand canyon wouldn't be one of those, unless they were walking the rim. and there are plenty like that if you go there. like the one guy who was worried about bus safety, but had no problem aligning his kids on the very edge of the canyon... that one i would label moron.
---Mike Savad
Geez, if we all add "Walmart" to our keywords....can we get sold there? That's odd that it's in your keywords when you didn't put it there! Cue "Twilight Zone" music...maybe Sean or Beth will weigh in on why?
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
yep twilight zone Rose. I f I was t use it as a keyword it would have been on a more popular image than Lemon head, don't know how it got there. There have been many weird things on this site that are unexplainable lately.
It is very strange, I wonder how many times the keyword thing has happened. I wonder if there are any other weird keywords that end up connected to peoples work with out them putting them there?
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
Yes I wonder Shana, it is very strange. I guess it can happen though like how my price's got changed on my prints and one sold for cheap and Sean made up the difference saying there was a tech glitch of some sort that might have happened.
Well if they are ones like that that do not fit and fall under the spam title and they just appeared and you find that out
you want to remove them as if is looks like spam and it is reported you can have all of your tags stripped from the
piece according to a thread some time ago that Beth mentioned. But not sure how many report those. Anyone that
searched for things finds pages of spam and you could waste all your life reporting it. Sad tho when someone has
done it on purpose. But for a tag that just pops in on it's own in a glitch that would make me mad. Even tho nothing
we could do other that just to remove it once we did find out... but it still looks bad until removed.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
It would be interesting to ask some of the artist's that have popped up with the same keyword if they know it's even in there and if they put it in on purpose or if the same thing happened to them.
Leah,
I must confess that I didn't go through all in the BIG SKIP...so, if what I'm saying, was mentioned before, please excuse me.
You have "Walmart" as a tag on your great painting, "Lemon Head"
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
Yes Roger, found that out after someone mentioned it after they looked at my tags. If I had put it there I wouldn't have started this thread. The mystery is how did it get there, I hate walmart. I also wonder was it put there for a reason by FAA as an experiment like someone mentioned here. If so I am reluctant to remove it then. So it's kind of a weird situation. I am glad that fellow FAA member emailed me asking why my work came under walmart though, or I would have never known.
Have you contacted support to ask? I would if you did not put it there Sean needs to know.
He may not have seen this thread and the best way is the 'contact us' ticket thing.
I do not see FAA adding spam tags even as a test. That would be against what they tell us to do.
Leah Saulnier The Painting Maniac
I was going to do it later if I can find where the support link is. I thought Beth would have chimed in, if she knew anything. I don't think FAA would add a spam tag but what if they are experimenting with W like other places, like amazon, that's what I was thinking
