Pc Envy?

What is your opinion of Mac owners?

Tony Murray

I think they are the nicest, most humble people on the planet.

Robert James Hacunda

So I gather you didn't know I owned one Tony?

Jeffrey Kolker

Not a fan of the product, but the owners...eh, they can be ok ;)

Robert James Hacunda

Philip, I'm not saying but I am saying if you know what I mean...

Charles Beeler

I only have windows, but I have always been told most photographers prefer Mac over windows.

John Crothers

I had to use them in school, but have a PC at home.

I didn't see anything that really set one apart from the other (except for price).

Tony Murray

I never have to worry about a virus. The system is always updated and clean automatically. I go go to real people and get any problem solved or get help with new software and products. You can't place a value on that these days.

Tony Murray

I knew you must own one Robert since, aside from me, you are the second most humble person I know.

Robert James Hacunda

A cheap man knows the price of everything and value of nothing.....

Angelina Tamez

My husband hates Mac's. I've never used them so I don't have a comparison. I'm happy with the PC.

John Crothers

The computers at school crashed and locked up.

They cost twice as much don't they? Are they twice as "good"?

I don't know. I didn't see it.

Megan Dirsa-DuBois

I used to be a window, NOW I love my MAC and would never go back!~
:)

John Crothers

But you asked about Mac OWNERS.

I don't know a lot of them but I have been told some of them have been known to say things like...

"A cheap man knows the price of everything and value of nothing..... "

I'll let you decide what that says about Mac owners...

RJ....
If saved to DVD's or external drive...can files on a PC go onto a Mac? Like...word doc files, image files, PDF files, My Document files, etc.

If a PC owner got a mac....they have to get all new software, right? P-shop, web editing...everything!?

Robert James Hacunda

I'm down with that john... Yes Lawrence there is extra costs on software but files can be saved ,after what we went through with virus' on Pennys PC I'd change over when i could..I use others pc online and I feel like it's 98 dial up again... and yes john that was a set up

Lawrence Supino

Thanks...the software thing is a bummer! ;) Especially when it comes to a new PS!

Apple will go into obscurity in a couple of years. It's Microsoft After Gates, redux. Apple hasn't had any ground breaking product since I-Phone II and it would have been as far back as the original I-Phone if the original didn't have all the bugs that the II fixed. And without Jobs, Apple is like a lost ship looking for an identity. Their products now come out half-baked. They've become reactionary instead of innovative. The Mini came out only to react to the demands other tablets of similar sizes, a very pedestrian reaction They sat on the Apple TV for too long and now every other manufacturer has a smart TV out or a smart box that can provide the content that the Apple Tv promised. Without Jobs, they've spent their final lifeline a few releases ago and now they are only relevant by fumes. Google is/will be the new Apple and Apple will be the old Microsoft. It's the changing of the guards again before our very eyes. Mac being in the Apple family will go down with the family.

I think MAC owners:

Have more money than I do (or, at least, more credit sources or indulgent parents).

Drive Swiss vehicles.

Don't enjoy digging around in their own computers while wearing an anti-static wristband and a geeky headlamp.

Are more likely to be trend-following hipsters.

Hey, you asked! ;-)

Roger Swezey

I equate Mac Owners to Starbucks Aficionados....

Tony Murray

The Letters PC are often used incorrectly. A Mac can be a PC as well as any computer. It means "Personal Computer"

Robert James Hacunda

Lawrence catch a flight to Bangkok get a massage an pic up a copy of PS for 50 bucks... there are ways ... Wings, you may very well be a visionary on this one but my Mac way out shines and PC I've ver run.. I know nothing of the other products and what the market is..I do know I was in the mac store today and it was happening big time for lap tops...Wendy, I heat with wood that I cut and drive a 2003 dodge caravan with 170 k on it.. but I will spend a grand easy on a pair of italian boots

Tony Murray

I own 5 other computers besides my Mac. I do my own work on them including changing bad capacitors on the mother board, replacing hard drives, etc.. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and I have never owned a Volvo. I own a Mac because I can't afford a cheap computer.

Tony Murray

Volvo is Swedish, : /

Does that change the fact that I have never owned one? : > )

Tony Murray

It was just a spot check to see if anyone actually reads what I write.

You can be broke with a swiss bank account too.

I had a swiss cheese, it was a defect, had holes in it. I returned it.

RJ…....“Bangkok”??…No thanks…didn’t you see Hangover II??!! lol

I don't even have a cell phone. I used to love technology -- but that was before people became addicted to it.

I steer clear of most portable tech-devices,

and crack houses,

and expensive, dark chocolate.

I don't need any new addictions.

Mark James Perry

For what it's worth, Volvo is now a chinese car.

Roseann Caputo

Depends upon the Owner. If the owner believes he/she to be superior to others or a better artist simply based on what PC they own, then I don't care for them.

I've used both a MAC based PC and a Win based PC. I prefer a Win based PC because I can build it and maintain it myself. I built a more powerful machine that would have cost me at the very least, double the price of a MAC based PC. This way I'm not paying for the labor to build it, and I control what hardware goes into it. Lower cost to me does not equal a lower quality device. I'm choosing which components go into it and I do my research. Example, I wouldn't go back to using an ATI video card, unless I had no other choice.

Funny most of the benchmarks are done with premade machines vs. custom made. I wonder how the benchmarks would go with a custom built machine.

Not to mention more software is made for a Win based PC. As for viruses, I don't have that issue. As for the viruses, they are developed for the more used OS and would not be successful at all if it weren't for pebkac.

Mike Savad

the computer or the fruit, or the burger?

no real opinion, once you get stuck in easy town you just stay there, it's the same opinion of people that are still using AOL.

---Mike Savad

Patricia Strand

If you are used to a Win-based PC, a Mac is cumbersome. Macs don't have a delete forward key, so it's hard to edit. You can only delete backward or highlight the text (extra step!) and then delete. I can only work with one window at a time on a Mac. If I open another window, where does the first one go? Clearly, I know little about Macs, lol. I will stick with my PC.

Generally, artists use Macs, business people use PCs.

I agree with what Tony said: "I don't like all the latest technology and gadgets either. They create them, and then convince people they need them." Amen to that!

Tony Murray

I hope in the future we have "Compudome' Two PC's enter, one PC leaves.

Thanks for the humour guys!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading previous comments!!!

I own a SEAT (Spanish come German car...hmmm sounds like our economy!!!) and my wife a Renault (Still French I think, the car I mean!!!)

Apple vs PC...I never had a MAC but surely they can not be as bad as Windows PCs...I know most "MAC users would swear by them" and "most PC users would swear at them" :-)

Robert James Hacunda

On a serious note, I am visually impaired and the Mac is just so much easier to see. Jobs was an art student and studied calligraphy and when he was designing his systems fonts and layout he consulted with his old calligraphy teacher for advice.. Windows is cold and hard for me to read..

Penny Monjeau

Gregory Scott

Mac Owners? Generally don't do much business software, are satisfied with a relatively small family of programs for personal use and for graphics.
They also tend to have more disposable income, and be a little less cost conscious.
That's my take, but over time, this may have changed. I've been out of the business over 10 years.

I hereby endorse dark chocolate. Touch "screen" with my tongue...

Margaret Saheed

I love milk chocolate!!

I have only had a computer for a few years, and with very little income I invested in an iMac, and have only added Photoshop Elements. I love it but couldn't make a comparison with a PC as I have never used one!

Patricia, I don't know about other Macs, but I delete forward simply by holding down the fn key (next to the control key) and pressing the delete key! Also I am self taught (apart from some help from Mac) and since being on FAA I have learnt to have two windows open at a time!!!

Martin Davey

If you are a PC owner you can take better advantage of the big cock up that adobe have made recently, more than a mac owner.
My first 2 computers were macs, but after I realised they were screwing me after paying for expensive upgrades, I went down the PC route, where I don't mind getting my hands dirty and fixing technical problems and upgrades myself, cheaply.

When i am in a media/art class at work, I just feel that the Mac's are superior, as I see all these movies being made, design, and art folios. But I'm not really technology minded enough to know in detail, the differences. I was always suspect as the students often said, Ah! Yes, I have a Mac at home so that won't work on mine. So, isn't there anything that combines the best of both?

Johnny Trippick

Owning a Mac is righteousness, genius and grooviness itself. Those of the true path countenance not the PC or any such trash. It's Mac or nothing. Everything else is but swill and dross in which the underclass roll.

Mac . Anything else is a pale sham whose destiny is destruction and failure and those who indulge in PCism do but swim in effluent and their destruction is assured.

Mike Jeffries

From what I read it appears being a Mac owner makes one a member of an discerning elite.

I am seriously thinking of buying one.

Karin Kuhlmann

I don't know how it is in other parts of the world but in Germany the tech service of Mac refuses to deal with computer-problems of smokers on the ground that they want to protect their employees...that counts me out of these elite cast LOL

Mike Savad

mac has always been known for great graphics and such, they were the first to look into the art market before the business market like IBM was. their software was always flaky and crashing, there hardware was always slow. there aren't many viruses because people don't really use them that much compared to pc's. however today, pc's have great screens as well, they just don't have a pretty shell. you can get them for half the price and twice the speed of a mac. mac's today, i think have intel chips inside, they just run a different operating system.

i prefer pc's because - all my programs use a pc. but mostly that i can configure and get new parts for my pc. and the last i checked you can't still do that with a mac.

Robert - I'm curious as to why you named the thread PC envy? I don't have any envy for MAC owners or their PCs. More like pity that they overpaid for their PC.

Sell Art Online

Martin Davey

When I was using macs you had to buy special mice, special keyboard, special this and that, and trying to find a 'macintosh' programme to buy was extremely difficult. It is funny now that an (intel) mac is a PC with different clothes on. But if people are happy with the mac interface thats fine. I last used a mac back in 2009 at a studio i was working in. I did miss the right hand click on the mouse which helps to speed up navigation no end. Apple had all the money their going to get off me!

Robert James Hacunda

I have to run but I titled this thread PC envy as much to research the mac vs pc question but more the mac vs pc personality and for the most part my suspicions were correct.. More later ..

R Allen Swezey

I know a lot of Mac Owners, ("The Artist's Computer") as I do Starbucks coffee drinkers..... In both cases, the products were purposely priced way above competition, to appeal to that particular set.

And when in the course of everyday transaction with this set, one word comes to my mind:.....INSUFFERABLE

SO! THERE!!

Roseann Caputo

What I'm finding odd is how many artists use Win PCs. I don't do Starbucks.

Prices on components have dropped considerably. Only the latest and greatest is high priced. Like the new six core processors.

I have owned PC's for years, finally I bit the proverbial expense bullet and bought one, then a desktop much later. The money was worth the trip imo, rare crashes and if it does, a hard shut down does not corrupt files. It is simple and easy, no blue screens of death. Expensive indeed, but I got my money's worth, and couldn't be happier.

My Mac is my art room, I cannot afford the possibility of hard work never to be found again from a crash. To me this is everything.

I am not an elitist, or bathing in cash, and I drive a 2001 jeep, and since I have owned a mac I will never go back to a PC.

Chuck Staley

I loved Macs when I sold computers at The Writers Store. So much commission on a sale! And everything that attached to it was double the price.

Me, I never understood the backspace thing on a Mac either and the logic required to use it escaped me.

I have owned PCs since DOS. They work just fine for me.

Roseann Caputo

Since Windows XP I've rarely experienced the blue screen of death. When I have, it was ususally because of something hardware related. Memory stick that went bad. Replace the bad stick, blue screen never returned. No file corruption. Then again, if you have a good back up, file corrutpion is less of an issue.

I have had the fortune (misfortune?) to user Macs and PC professionally since their were personal computers .At first Macs were better in many was (except price) Now PC is far better in mho simply because it is an open system not locked down by greedy people at apple. This even applies to tablets and pads. I would much prefer android or win 8 over the apple system. The last decade of my career I had a Mac sitting on my desk ( i was not in purchasing :-)) but it was running windows.

Mac users say Love a lot= heart
PC users focus is on price=head

Mark James Perry

@Robert there is a reason Mac people say they heart their Macs.....they rarely fight with them! (;

Rich

RJ, I'd gladly take a Stihl over a MAC anyday!

Sydne Archambault

Well when I had a PC, actually I do have a PC and there is always something going wrong. Like crashes, like virus's like left over files that conflict with other files....the list is quite large actually. By the end of the day I feel pretty much like I was in battle.

Roseann Caputo

"Picasso had a saying: 'Good artists copy, great artists steal.' Jobs and Apple had a dream. Microsoft had a "business plan". Windows 1.0 was stolen from Zerox, I still have a copy of the Zerox version. Check out what happened to Peter Norton. Gates was and is a pirate. Why do you think so many hackers have it in for Microsludge?

Charles Kozierok

Windows 1.0 included elements that Microsoft licensed from Apple. No idea where you are getting this stuff about Xerox from.

RJ - I'm still trying to figure out how this relates to the title of the thread?

Robert James Hacunda

Roseann, it's a discussion and they tend to have a mind of their own. to be honest with you my intention with this thread is to flush out other dividing volatile issues amongst us without touching religion or politics.

Mark James Perry

You can look it up yourself Charles. I do, however, have a copy of the xerox window system with icons that ran on an ibm pc. I also have some of the source code. At the time I was trying to interface an 8 bit targa board with an ibm pc with ibm dos and a windowing system on top.

Roseann Caputo

I have. There's no evidence I can find to support your claims.

The general sequence was Xerox -> Apple -> Microsoft. I believe Xerox and Apple got into a legal dispute of some kind, and that may be what you're thinking of. I see nothing about Xerox and Microsoft going at each other, nor any indications that Microsoft was even accused of stealing Xerox software.

Mac wins in turn on time...

Mark is spot on re Xerox. ... Confirmed long ago during my husband's tenures, CEO three Xerox companies worldwide, at different times , now happily retired.
I'd love a Mac.....artists I know find the Mac most intuitive.....it works with you, not against you, and it's programmes outshine Windows.
Wish I'd started with Mac.....too long in the tooth now.

Robert James Hacunda

Vivian, until we went through this virus malware 3 times Penny was dragging her feet on it too. Her pc lap top is now trash and the mac I had bought at the same time is still running like it always did..I also remember trying to run photoshop on a PC when we were doing fabric design and it was ridiculously slow. I mean my first imac from 98 ran photoshop much faster than the pc we had in the office. It wasn't even worth waiting for me to start it up, I'd just go upstairs to my mac and get it done. I also find the mac interface so much easier to see and the language clearer. The quality of the buttons is much better also. It's not just an image thing as some pc people like to claim, it really is a sweet running machine.

Penny Monjeau

Dare I ask about the ipad next? Since the most frustrating thing about the macbook, is waiting for RJ toget off it...

sent from my droid

Penny, short answer....it's 3.45 a.m. Here, and I'm tucked up in bed on my mini.....yeah!

Guess it's never too late for a Mac.......double entendre

Roseann Caputo

I am laughing so hard right now. A MACs programs out shines Windows? LOLOLOLOL That is the most hysterical thing I've ever read.

The programs run the same whether on MAC or WIN!

Oh my that's so very funny.

Mark James Perry

I bet your husband knows people who are still kicking themselves Vivian. Xerox should have made a deal with ibm. Xerox software people I knew were yelling as loud as they could. They had it figured out.

Robert James Hacunda

yeah they run the same only slower...

Roseann Caputo

RJ - then why is it I don't have any of the issues people are mentioning here? Why is it my machine runs just fine for me? I built this machine in the summer of 2009. I've tweaked the hardware by upgrading to 24GB of RAM, gotten slightly better video cards, and upgraded the OS. It's still running like a champ and yes, I am very happy with my machine. I would say I love it, but I find it hard to love something that is not people or animal. I am quite fond of it though. Having done tech support for over 20 years, I did find one consistent issue in each of the problems. The end user. :-) PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair.

They don't run slower on my machine - LOL

Robert James Hacunda

because you've tweaked yours...I guess we'll need to do a mc vs pc race to confirm this

Glad your expert knowledge found my humble word FUNNY ! Why so? Care to educate me? Never too late to learn, from high priestesses.

edit...I don't take kindly to being the butt of laughter.

Roseann, you are undoubtably right. I was the problem, as a consumer I did not choose wisely...

I love you Roger

Roseann Caputo

RJ - A race? Sure whatever. LOL I also pay attention and read the screens when programs are installing. I'm careful about what sites I go to and what links I click on. The start up race is not relevant for me, I don't shut my PC down at all. The only time I reboot it, is when I need to from an update. My PC works all night long darlin. LOL Sorry that I'm not envious of your MAC. But thank you for the amusement.

Vivian - "it works with you, not against you, and it's programmes outshine Windows." - What programs outshine Windows? Adobe? Corel? These applications run the same on either OS. Some of the commands differ because of the keys being different such as Control on Windows and Command on the MAC.

Penny - It can happen. Most of the premade machines are not that great.

That's funny?

edit: @ Roger............yes, when will they shut t...f....up. !!!!!! Smart-ass denigrating responses show the worst side of pc-lovers/'experts'.
Last I read, the [sic] "laughes" were on me..........now, it's 'enlightenment'.......how 'pc' is that. my turn: LOL !

edit: from Philip .Sweeck @ 7.12 pm.............with which I totally agree......"Windows is made for / by accountants, OS X for / by artists."

G'night/morning from Oz.

Have had a MAC every since they came out. As a child my dad would bring a new one home over the summer holidays (as be was a teacher). When my parents bought a computer it was a MAC. In 30 odd years of having not ONE virus. I have one as an adult and LOVE it. Use the other type at school and hate it. I am a big Apple head. I love everything Mac and if there is a choice I’ll choose Mac.

AS for what I think about MAC people.....love them :)

Truth be told, if you own a Windows box your PART of the virus problem. Viruses are spread by the Windows people. End of Story.…sorry but thats the fact jack! LOL.

I'm happy to able amuse your cynical side Roseann.... and to be able to collect data from this topic for my own personal research..

Mark James Perry

How are you doing on that Robert?

Robert James Hacunda

Mark, correlation is most evident with a few variations on the theme..Reactivity to the topic is pronounced and of course personal style..but all and all it is as I suspected and the variations themselves gives me valuable information into a third study group that has two parts

Arthur - That comment shows me that you don't have any idea what you're talking about.

RJ - You're welcome. Thank you so much for the enlightenment you and the others provided for me as well.

I'm done now.

Unix users are the ones with large collections of computers. So many different flavors to run. I'm a PC person - I like to dig into the box and customize. Though the hackintosh concept sounds interesting.

Wow. Time warp. This thread is reminiscent of Usenet boards in the 90s. Remember those?

John Ayo

I'm still on one or two, but they're called "newsgroups", not "boards".

ISPs used to include Usenet access in their services, but mostly dumped them a few years ago. Now most Usenet users access it via 3rd-party pay services or one or two limited free servers. I get on via eternal-september.org's free server.

Dan Turner

That's right, "newsgroups"! Thanks, John.

And furthermore,

For those that think Mac's can't get viruses, they certainly do!

"The Java exploits can make your computer (Mac or PC) vulnerable to all kinds of nasty stuff from ransomeware to assorted other virus-y goodness. "

http://gizmodo.com/5975415/even-the-department-of-homeland-security-wants-you-to-disable-your-java

"First, the bad news. Once again, Mac users are at risk due to a flaw in Java, similar to the one that enabled the Flashback Trojan. Even worse, there isn’t (yet) a patch to fix that vulnerability. But don’t worry: This time around, there’s good news for Mac users: Thanks to changes Apple has made, most of us are likely to be safe from this threat."

the more there of something the better the chances are at getting a virus. so like a mac may not have that many. but i bet iphones and ipads have plenty that are targeted right at them. pc's have more, because there are more pc's. but i do wonder, that now that intel is inside of macs, can they make a virus cross platform?

has anyone here gotten the system progressive protection virus? also known as malware.. we have it on the pc lap top had it fixed twice and now can't even get it to open files..how do we get the information off it?

Mark James Perry

It's a major pain RJ. First you need to get rid of the virii with a boot disk. Then retreve the files you want. DO NOT let anyone touch the machine unless you are sure they know what they are doing.

Robert James Hacunda

can the machine be saved and made protection proof from this virus? The guy who fixed it twice was with the local phone company and he didn't think there was much else you could do.. he put some kind of protection software on it but he said this new one is very tricky like it knows how to disable certain things to let it in..I have very limited knowledge here

Mark James Perry

Sorry RJ This sort of thing takes somebody who really knows what he is doing. The data can probably be retreved but carefully. Short answer is yes it can be done.

Robert James Hacunda

Okay Mark, first I'll see if he can retrieve the data before going any further...thanks

Viv,

Re: "Insufferable"

You're RIGHT!

But not about their grubby HP Pavilion Computers.

Oh!, By the way, have I told you about my solutions to the FAA Search Engine?

LOL, Roger.........glad we agree, of course. Sure thing, mate, tell me more about the search engine....(something I don't already know,lol??)...but maybe separate to this thread, so we can really get into it, on topic............we're testing the patience of our Host here, am sure..........

So sorry RJ that your 'ordinary' computer is causing such angst.........all the more reason for a MAC.

I'm convinced, but don't 'laugh' at me again, that it's Windows that's always caused me problems.......not joking....no kidding.......don't laugh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Viv,

RE: " it's Windows that's always caused me problems.."

"What is your opinion of Mac owners?"

It depends on the person, never on the Mac!!!

The person??? A part of the human construct!

Robert James Hacunda

Dan it boils down to price..Many people just buy things with the attitude that " it's good enough for me"... or ideology and loyalty to the masses

Crystal Wightman

I own PC. Every mac user I know, say the greatest things about mac....so much it makes me sick to hear the debate between windows and mac. For the past 6 months, I've been working at a company that makes graphics for ads in magazines, newspapers etc.. I use an imac everyday for 8hrs, and I hate macs. I lost count how many mac users say macs do not crash, they never have a problem etc.. I have had more issues with the imac in 1 month then I had with my pc in 1yr. I'm not kidding either. I had the mac freeze up from placing screenshots in the trash bin. I had software not respond. I had Adobe Indesign fail to open ads to work on them. There have been times, I needed to restart and the imac wouldn't. Had to hit the power button, no such luck. The only thing that save me was unplugging it altogether and plugging it back in. I have never used a mac to ever give my opinion, but now that I have, I will never get one. IMO, they are not worth the money.

Dan Turner

RJ, you're way off on this. Wrong conclusion. If you're in business, and you work with other businesses, you don't make it hard on yourself and everyone else by selecting equipment nobody has and nobody uses. Unless your clients are ad agencies or counter-culture entrepreneurs, you go with PC.

Robert James Hacunda

Dan you just demonstrated exactly what I said, HOW AM I WAY OFF?
If you're in business, and you work with other businesses, you don't make it hard on yourself and everyone else by selecting equipment nobody has and nobody uses.=LOYALTY
Unless your clients are ad agencies or counter-culture entrepreneurs,= IDEOLOGY
Dan this thread is not only about mac vs pc it's a socio psychological survey
Crystal I think you're the first here to talk from direct experience that hates mac

Roger Swezey

Crystal,

I suppose that the Insufferables will say that your problems with those pretty white things is caused by "BAD KARMA"

Rich Franco

RJ,

For a lot of people, a MAC is an accessory, no more than a pair of shoes, handbag, etc. Go visit a StarBucks and watch the beautiful people and the glowing "Apples". As a business tool, the PC is the Highway, the MAC is the picnic bench, where you stop and rest on your journey.

When 90% of people use a PC, it's because they work, are cheap and most everyone has one.

Randall Arthur

I own a MAC and used to own a PC platform system. All I can say from my experience is the MAC doesn't start to go bad when a newer version of the OS is coming out but Windows seemed to do just that. I always got the impression that MS would begin to send bad code to older machines so, out of frustration, the users would resort to buying a newer version of Windows. Just my opinion so please don't shoot me for it. If you really want to know, I hate all systems and wish I could break the habit before I go blind.

Don Olea

I have always been a Mac owner. Currently, I own there. My wife has a PC and she tolerates it. When she has trouble, I usually can't help because the windows system is so difficult to navigate through.
To those who think Mac owners are snobs and drive Swiss cars, I spent there years with the Army's 2/75 Ranger Bat. I drove a flatbed for a year and a half, and played minor league hockey for 10 years.
However, to be fair, I do enjoy the occasional StarBucks. :-)

Don Olea

They may have confused Swiss with Swedes. Again, in all fairness, I did own a Saab, but that was before my Mac days. I also owned and Audi and a Volvo. Currently I own a Ford, Chevy AND a Mercedes! And get this it's a really snobbish 300sl roadster convertible. So what does that say about me now? I'm sooo confused! :-\ lol

Mark, no one is stopping you (yet) from starting interesting, fascinating, thought-provoking threads of your own filled with the intelligence and sophistication you so crave.

The object would be to say what you want — anything and everything you want — without getting thrown off the forum, without alienating your readers and without being ignored. The question is, are you talented enough and motivated enough to do that?

I would love to see some art talk, but the locals(who ever they are) call it snobby, and elitist. I do believe it is still legal here though, unlike religion and politics, which of course as we all know have nothing whatsoever to do with the creation of art.

Personally I think that to be all inclusive to the point of full EXclusion of anything deemed "upsetting", is as devastating as, and has many parallels to genocide.

Well there comes a time in all threads for it end. Thank you to all who participated in indulging me in my observational day dreams. The question was a loaded one intended to trick some information out of peoples loyalties, prejudices and belief systems and it worked for a while but I think we've gotten out of it what we needed. A simple question elicited a great deal, confirmed a few things and left me with a few more questions. Thanks again, I will step away from the keyboard and contemplate my next approach.... RJ
