This scene is the Delaware River, from a vantage north of Stockton, but on the Pennsylvania side of the river, looking south. There's a clump of dead tree limbs and reeds encroaching on the river, making a small inlet in the foreground. The trees are... 

This is the view from a hilltop on Covered Bridge Road near Stockton, NJ. in autumn. The distant trees are changing color, but haven't lost all their leaves yet.  

This study of the history Prallsville Mill buildings was done during a workshop with Ty Hodanish. It was an effort focused on simplifying a complex scene, and capturing the light effects of late morning. 

This painting was also inspired by my cousin's son's photos. This one was a more serene take on the sunset over the water. 

My cousin's son Mike took the photo that was my inspiration for this painting. They live in Newport, RI.  

Greenway Meadows is a small park that consists mostly of, you guessed it, meadows. The grass was waist high when our plein air painting group went out to paint there. That's why the artist in the painting is only visible from the waist up! 

I just love cosmos...the beautiful pink/violet color, and the simple petals. The breeze came along and ruffled that one petal, and I had to paint it that way!

The reference I worked from attracted my eye over a year ago, and I finally painted it in response to a challenge offered on the wetcanvas site. I used a palette knife for the initial block-in, and then brushes for softening and detail work.
