A new beginning...the first sunrise of 2011! Celebrating life, nature and love on the Atlantic Coast at Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina! 

This is the Bran Castle,military fortification built in the 14th century to protect vital commercial trade routes. Vlad 'The Impaler" Dracula was imprisoned here for 2 months. In the 1920s the castle became a beloved summer retreat for Queen Maria. 

Nothing is more beautiful than a sunset at the beach... 

Cheraw State Park is the jewel attraction of the South Carolina Sandhills region. I took this picture on the boardwalk over beautiful Lake Juniper. Everything looked perfect from the delicate water lilies to the majestic long-leaf pines to myster... 

Morris Island Lighthouse now stands guard to Charleston Harbor several hundreds feet offshore. 

What life is all about... 

Charleston ist at its best in spring. I love strolling the old cobblestone streets, away from the touristic hustle and bustle, to find little treasures such as this. 

 

Half of my eucalyptus tree died this week. It lays still on the ground and yet a sweet aroma is still welcoming us home every day. These are his leaves. Good bye old friend.
