Wendell Wiggins

I was raised in Wash. DC and felt a strong urge to draw and paint at a very early age. In time I attended the Cleveland Institute of Art in Ohio and received a BFA degree in Illustration, Graphic Design and Photography. In Southern California, I spent years at The California Institute of Art learning, studying and recieving knowledge and inspiration in visual as well as the performing arts.

As a freelance and full-time artist in Los Angeles I have worked creating book illustrations, storyboards, print advertising design, broadcast graphics and art director for a variety of projects and clients. Over the past 25 years I’ve worked with numerous Design Studios including ABC-TV, MTV and Paramount Studios.

These opportunities helped to fulfill my passion for travel and provided me the opportunities to experience different places and peoples around the world. As a photographer and painter I’ve been very inspired by culture and art of Brazil, Central America, S.E. Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. Since the mid-90's I have exhibited my works in art galleries, museums and festivals throughout Southern california and the U.S.

The themes of my paintings often reflect the strong interest I have in culture, spirtuality, emotion, movement, color and optimism. My art is often figurative yet through motion and color I strive to reach beyond realism by attempting to inspire the viewer emotionally as well as visually.
