ARTIST STATEMENT | SQUARED SERIES
My body of work for the most part, is finding that special calm and simplicity among chaos. Before making a capture, I become still and connect with absolute presence with the famous quote by photographer Minor White in mind, 'Be still with yourself, until the object of your attention affirms your presence.' In a sense, the capture is made when I feel permission is given back from nature itself which is a very powerful way of being. Hopefully the energy and connection within each image can be experienced by you as well.

ABOUT THE ARTIST | TROY ZIEL
My first photograph as an artist that I ever took was in grade school through an empty Quaker oatmeal carton as the camera, and a pin pricked piece of tinfoil for the lens. I fell in love with the magic that took place in the darkroom in high school. In college, I dove into technique, alternative films and processes, critique, and took extra coursework and got my B.F.A. in Fine Art where I learned how to communicate and express my voice through imagery. As a California Bay Area native, I've grown accustomed to living in such a beautiful part of this world. Appreciation of this beauty started early on in life but it was my father, (who worked for the airlines) who gave me the wings to see and experience other countries that were so rich in amazing landscape and culture.

Today, photography allows me to capture the 'feeling' of what I experience in those memorable 1/125th of a second moments... and the ability to bring people joy by offering my photography prints to own for themselves has been a dream come true for me.

Currently living in San Francisco, Troy leads his life by combining heart, passion and entrepreneurship through various avenues of expression including commercial and fine art photography, running a graphic design studio zieldesign.net, and singing professionally for voice-over.

ARTIST STATEMENT | PLASTIC SERIES
I cannot help but take notice of everything that is amusing around me. Largely I thank human beings for this because each one of us is an individual, free thinking and able to do or say what we choose, often resulting in the opportunity to look more or less presentable or sometimes foolish.
On this planet, we all stand on the same ground, living our lives. Individual persons are like their own country, with their own government and flag of identity. It is amazing to think that despite this diversity, people still place judgment on others. I find this act of superiority ironic, since we all act in ways that would seem bizarre if we could see ourselves as others do.
