Indian Canyons Agua Caliente
To visit the Indian Canyons take us to what life was for the Cahuilla Indians. Palm Springs, Summer 2014. Centuries ago, ancestors of the Aqua Caliente Cahuilla Indians settled in the Palm Springs area. They developed complex communities in the Palm, Murray, Andreas, Tahquiz, and Chino Canyons. With an abundant water supply, the plants, animals, and Cahuilla Indians thrived. They grew crops of melons, squash, beans, and corn. They gathered plants and seed for food, medicines, and basket weaving. Today, remains of Cahuilla society like rock art, house pits, foundations, irrigation ditches, dams, reservoirs, trails and food preparation areas still exist in the canyons. But it may not be for long, this location lies just above the St. Andreas Fault, so here, enjoy the images of what it is today,
