Salton Sea Series
Photographers have a mission: To preserve and freeze images that will be treasured long after the subject/scene are gone. The Salton Sea in California is still there, it was once a great place to vacation and relax. On August 8, 2014, we made an effort to see and observe what was still there. The sea/lake is still lovely though the surrounding banks and shore are not. The foul smell and the hungry bugs can only be tolerated for a short time. But to catch a glimpse of the sunset for a good half hour, observing its slow decent and the afterglow it gives to the lake water and the seagulls is an experience worth engraving not just in our memories but it our hearts. I suspect the sea will eventually be eaten up by the St. Andreas fault which is just under it. So enjoy these once-in-a-lifetime series of the Salton Sea.
