National Forests
There are very many National Forests around the country. In the past we have paid more attention to National Parks. But for the past 15 or so years have spent more time in the National Forest, than ever in our lifetime. For many reasons we like the Forests as well as the Parks. One reason is you can get away from the crowds as the number of people spending time in the forests is much lower. Campgrounds seem quieter, as people come in and stay longer. You get to meet campers from all over the country and socialize with them more, as they stay at least a week or two. In the Parks, people seem to only use them for overnight stays. They get up early and leave for the day, so the site is empty all day as they travel around the park. Then they leave in a couple of days, so traffic is heavier and noiser.
