The Birch Files
This is one of my long-standing favorite themes. It's my own quirky take on the idea that trees have human characteristics. You might call it, "trees are people too". One result of these paintings hopefully is that, by imagining trees as individuals or humans, some people might have a little more empathy and respect for forests and all living things. Another idea that I wanted to share is a little bit of the mystical or fantastical aspect of the forest, which of course back in Russian folklore and probably the traditions of all peoples.
