Thanks for visiting my page. I have posted some of my work as an expression of my love for painting. This love has been a driving force in my life,as well as the source of much pleasure ,gratification, and comfort in times of uncertainty. Painting to me is truly an act of worship.
I am the son of north coast fisherman. Born in Fort Bragg Ca, Some of my my earliest memories were associated with ancient redwood forests and the rugged coastline where we lived. As a young child I a great desire to draw pictures of the things outdoors that I was so fascinated by. I may have had encouragement from my folks and older siblings to draw. Probably because I occupied myself for many hours drawing when I was very young. I remember the day my mother brought home a color book and crayons for me to enjoy. The crayons were nice ,but staying within the confines of the pre-printed subjects in the book was not fun to me .
The first time I recall using a brush was in Kindergarten. I liked it. I began painting with oils when I was 8 . Throughout elementary school years I as often appointed to artwork projects like stage props for school plays or murals ect. In my senior year of high school I took an art class I had discovered watercolor during this time. I liked it's freshness. It was so clean and transparent. I learned that I can make strikingly sharp contrasts in ways not possible with opaque colors.I learned how its subtle effects can be manipulated into clever illusions of texture and impression. In my senior year I won second place in my high school art competition. From then on I painted only with watercolor. My work has been on display at the 'Crystal Pier Gallery' in San Diego. And during open competition at the San Diego Art Institute's 'Miniatures Competition' I've displayed my work also at the Stanislaus County Fair a couple of times.
Painting with watercolor is to me a carefully planned and executed series of stains.I paint with other media as well as watercolor. Recently I've discovered the freedom of painting with Acrylic. What ever the media whatever the subject or how well I express it, it's all for fun. When I become too serious or too focused on the results, then the 'fun' leaves! For me painting is to be enjoyed!
