Soma’s paintings explore the phenomenon of ‘journey’ as a metaphorical interpretation of life and its experiences. What began as her personal journey of healing and experimentation has translated into nostalgic paintings from her travels, fascinating objects and nature that implores people to re-think on their own life’s journeys, lessons or remember their roots.
Her paintings also embody her spiritual perspectives on the process of ‘creation’ using familiar imagery from ‘life- a journey’, allowing for a connection between our unique perceptions and explorations. Her philosophy in life as in art is to enjoy the journey (of creation) rather than emphasis on the destination (finished piece).
Soma has exhibited in many group shows across Perth and is currently working towards a doctorate in architecture at Curtin University, Perth.
