I began my painting journey some thirty-five years ago in oils, but recently have discovered that I am addicted to working in watercolors with all its nuances. It’s intriguing to control the colors which bombard each other, co-mingle, blend, swirl, and integrate with the guidance of the brush. And then to watch, even though controlled, the unexpected and magical happen.
For the watercolors, I use a limited palette of professional Winsor Newton lightfast transparent pigments on fine Arches 140# CP linen paper which means that the colors are complementary, there is little if any fading over the years, the colors remain luminous, and the linen paper does not yellow = A LASTING QUALITY TREASURE.
My subjects are varied: horses, dogs, cats, birds, flowers, beach scenes, landscapes, portraits, waterscapes, boats. Being a realist my subjects are usually representational, but there is always the mystery of what the watercolor will do that surrounds the realism and produces a uniquely styled piece that develops from my mind.
I have to say that I would be without any of this without the inspiration I receive when as I meditate with God, things just begin to form. He directs my hand and my mind for which I thank Him.
I also show and sell my originals at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center Coffee Shop in Nashua, NH;---at Parker's Maple Barn in Mason, NH; and ---on my blog and website. I invite you to visit.
My paintings are hanging in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
