My work is about the process of layering color and texture, both in my mixed media collage paintings, and fiber pieces. I work intuitively, however am formally trained. I studied art at Roosevelt University, on a 4 year scholarship, and received my B.A. in 1968. I continued my studies in various workshops, with noted artists, including Don Baum of Chicago. My works have been shown and/or sold in Chicago, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Wa., Portland, Oregon, Japan, Central Oregon, Seaside ,Cannon Beach, and Lincoln City, Oregon. I recently showed a fiber piece at Springfield Museum, in a juried show. Private collectors have included corporate executives, gallery owners, and other artists. I have exhibited in numerous juried shows, one person shows, and group shows. I was a member of a cooperative art gallery for nine years. Currently, I try to limit my exhibits to juried shows at museums and galleries.
My educational and professional background includes graduate work in counseling, and fine art; state certification as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor; National Certification in Disability Management; 25 years work experience as a Vocational Rehabilation Counselor and Consultant; Regional Manager, Vocational Rehab Counseling offices in Oregon and Washington; Federal contract as a Forensic Expert Witness, Disability hearings, Oregon, Washington, California; owner /operator of a Temporary Employment Service in California; curator and juror numerous art exhibits; guest instructor/lecturer at college level: SOSC, PSU, etc.
My passion is and has always been artmaking; I cannot remember a time when I was not an artist....it is an integral part of my being.
To me art is spirit made manifest.
