Robert McCall was born in Monterey, California. He is a former U.S. Army Officer and is now retired living in South Carolina. Robert was blessed with very supportive parents who always encouraged him and provided opportunities for him to pursue his passion of art.
Robert's mother said, 'Robert began showing an interest in art when he was in the 4th or 5th grade. He asked for an art set for Christmas, which came with detailed instructions about values, shading, perspective, etc. It also came with a plentiful supply of paper and different shades of black, grey and white chalk, along with colored pencils. Robert seemed to enjoy practicing with these and received encouragement from his school teacher as well as at home.
By the time Robert reached Jr. high School he began to take it quite seriously, and when he entered Bishop Noll Institute he was fortunate to have an extremely good art teacher, who perhaps, contributed more to Robert's art education and desire to make it his life's work than any other person.'
He paints in his studio, which is located in his home in Goose Creek, S.C.
