River was born in Montreal Canada and remembers drawing at the Musee des Beaux Arts, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts when he was five years old. He moved to Vancouver as a teenager, and graduated from the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in 1991. Living in Kelowna BC, River is a full-time artist specializing in oil painting, and drawing with oil pastel and graphite. He has taught drawing sice 1992 at the Arts Council of the North Okanagan in British Columbia.
River's artwork has been published as book cover art, and exhibits anually across Canada. His work is in collections in the United States, Germany and Canada.
This Canadian artist continues the tradition of landscape with a focus on harmony, sanctuary, and positive growth while observing modernist and conceptual dialogues in multiple disciplines.
