Born and raised on a farm in Eastern Quebec, I migrated to Nova Scotia early 60’s where I married a girl from Baccaro. After 26 years in the military and a further 10 years with a campground directory outfit, Judy and I settled in Jordan Falls. During his spare hours I make mosaic art pieces. The subjects are mostly related to the sea and the fishing environment.
Stained glass provides a good choice of colours, but it is not a friend to work with. Many cuts on fingers do confirm that glass cuts. I first draws a rough sketch on a base either plywood or fiberboard (MDF), then add colour to get a better feel of the final work. The glass from the supplier is 30 cm by 30 cm; hence each sheet needs to be cut many times to get a workable tile. It takes about 15 hours of cutting and gluing per 30 cm by 30 cm of finished work.
