Almost every watercolor was completed in my studio in Carpinteria, California.
Due to some physical limitations I most often work from photographs I have taken, and some that are brought to me by others. I just don’t do very well painting on location.
My palette is generally limited to 25 or so favorite colors, sometimes augmented for special needs and effects. Most often I work on a watercolor pad, either 12” x 16” or occasionally 18” x 24”. The paper choice is usually cold pressed Arches Aquarelle.
The most often asked question is, “How long did it take you to complete this painting.” My usual glib response is, “About 60 years and three hours.” The faster a painting comes together the fresher it seems to be.
Almost all the work represented here was completed in the last fifteen years. My serious study of watercolor only began when I retired from Sunkist Growers in 1995. Happily most items were well received, and so only a few original paintings remain available. So far I have produced only a few prints of any of my work - two dozen at the most.
All together I have selected some 50 items from my most recent work to offer here for your pleasure.
From time to time we will add other paintings to these selections. Over time we will augment this selection, perhaps adding some earlier work in other media.
Copies of all these works are available through www.fineartamerica.com
Fineartamerica provides you the opportunity to select the paintings you want to purchase, in the size you prefer, matted and framed if you wish.
