About the Artist and his Art
A native of Wisconsin, Randall Scherrer has had a life-long passion for art. Having won local and national art awards while still in high school, Mr. Scherrer majored in Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. During this time, he also studied photography as an assistant to Thomas Ferderbar, a commercial photographer, who in turn had studied under the direction of Ansel Adams.
Mr. Scherrer has had a long career as a commercial artist and art director, working in Milwaukee, Chicago and New York, before moving to Los Angeles. He has won numerous local, regional, national and international awards over the past few decades. Mr. Scherrer has been an instructor at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
Always an avid gardner with an extraordinary green thumb, in the early ‘80’s, Mr. Scherrer studied plant identification at UCLA. In recent years, he has combined a keen appreciation for biology with fine art and photography. Taking digital pictures of flowers and manipulating them digitally, the prints exhibited here are part of an initial group of “artist’s proofs.”
Randall lives in the Hollywood Hills with his wife, Renee, a floral designer.
