The Fiji-based artist is a Cultural Centre of the Fiji Islands whereby presenting the traditional Fijian Artifacts and at the same time exhibiting the Fine arts with Charcoal Pastels, Acrylic, Oil and water color Paintings. Pravin Sen expresses a passion for content in his themes, leaning more towards social and Mother Nature realities. The paintings usually comprises of Landscapes, Exotic Animals of Fiji, Endangered animals, underwater scenes, Portraits, Still Arts and Traditional Fijian Pottery paintings. He views his works as more personal, using symbolism in the gestures and overall context of his subjects. His themes have reflected a preference to the introspective dealing more with life's meaning and pondering on the essence of existence.
Pravin Sen began working with paints at a very early age. Since childhood and being a self-taught artist, he has enjoyed exploring the surrounding islands and marshes, including the Traditional Fijian Handicrafts. At the age of eight, he was awarded with a Certificate of Honor from XI Commonwealth Games in Edmonton Canada.
Pravin started his first selling of Arts to a Handicraft Shop (Nadi Handicraft) in Nadi Fiji. The first painting was of Water Color and very less details. During this time, Pravin began collecting and storing some of the 'exotic' pictures of Palm Trees, Animals, Shells etc. around Fiji that our Tourists preferred, including the Traditional Fijian Handicrafts. Pravin began painting custom orders for people and businesses.
Over the years he painted many custom and innovative Fine arts including the Handicrafts. He is also a cover designer of a touring company based in Fiji from Japan – HIS Fiji Ltd. He has started to compete in Exhibitions around the country. He has participated in Annual Exhibitions organized by Fiji Arts Council, Fiji Arts Club and Creativiti Exhibitions. The Art lovers in Fiji recognize Pravin Sen as one of the fine artists revealing the original work as close to a picture and a very fine detailed art presenter.
An International DiplomArt Exhibition was held in September 2009 at The Sheraton Resort which was a great opportunity for Pravin Sen to exhibit with Professional Artists from abroad. Many great artists competed at the Sheraton Resort of Fiji for this big event which has never taken place in Fiji before which was organized by Tokani Art Agency and won two awards: 3rd Prize and Public Choice.
Pravin Sen now is an Arts Tutor at the Fiji Arts Club and also takes private tuition to those who are willing to learn paintings as a hobby, advancing skills or becoming a professional artist. He teaches pastels, acrylic, oil, water colors and crayon paintings. He is now the artist for making Fiji stamps which sells around the globe.
