Photography has been defined as the art, science and practice of creating a durable image. I don’t think of it in such a technical way, but rather as the act of capturing something that I see so that I can take pleasure in visiting it again.
These days I find myself relying more and more upon the images that I’ve captured to remind me of the people, places and fleeting moments in my life. As the years pass, the mental images begin to fade for all of us and our photographs become more meaningful and more dear to us.
The photos that we capture can evoke a myriad of feelings everything from laughter to tears.
I was once asked “what is your favorite thing to do in life”. After giving it some thought, my answer was “to laugh”. It wasn’t photography or singing, both of which are a passion for me, but simply to laugh. Does my photography make me laugh? Sometimes, but mostly is just causes me to smile as I review my life and travel vicariously through my photos.
Photography. If you haven’t tried it, then take a chance. Document something that you would like to remember or just something that simply makes you smile. Make some memories for the rocking chair.
