Paul Freidin - Fine Artist

Born during the Great Depression in Los Angeles. Started drawing as a child during Word War II.

Formal art training at Chouinard Art Institute, Los Angeles in the 1950s.
Earned a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology at California State University, Los Angeles in the 1970s.

Held various jobs including Jazz saxophonist, truck driver, silk screen printer, industrial photographer and technical writer before becoming a full-time artist in 2003.

Moved to Southern Nevada in 2004 where I live and work today.

I was greatly influenced by the music of Charley Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and other Jazz musicians for their ability to improvise. I also use improvisation in my art.

Painters that have influenced me are Munch, Klee, Miro, Kandinsky, Pollock, Francis Bacon and De Kooning.

Have had exhibitions in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, New York City, and the UK.
